Ladies, I'm proud to announce that we gave birth to our two lovelies on Wednesday, August 12th, at 37 w 5 days. Their names are Cecilia Charlotte (5 lb 14 oz) and Alexander Ellis (5 lb 13 oz). Here is my birth story (including lots of details for those who are curious - as I know I was as an expecting mom):

I went in for my scheduled induction at 8 AM on Wednesday. Both babies were head down starting from about month 4 of the pregnancy and had not budged! So I was scheduled for vaginal induction but really nervous about the delivery and what would happen, not to mention about the possibility of having to have a c-section on Baby B after delivering A vaginally. But back to the day on Wednesday...

After applying cervadil, breaking my water, and starting me on pitocin (all this was completed by around 11 AM), my labor progressed slowly but evenly. I got the epidural in the early afternoon and when my doc came back to check on my at 4 PM, I was dilated to 4 cm. She told me that I could probably expect to get to 10 cm maybe around 8 PM so we settled back in for another 4 hours of nervous waiting.

An hour and a half later, she returned to check on me and - I was dilated to 10 and Baby A was at plus 2 station! So they immediately prepped me and took me to the OR. From then on, things progressed quickly, I pushed about 15 minutes with her and she was out! The took her to measure her and clean her up, then it was time to push with him. I guess pushing her had caused my BP to drop so once I started pushing him, I felt like I was going to black out and started vomiting. They told me to just stop and rest a minute and they said he was doing fine, not in any distress, heartbeat strong. So I waited a few minutes and pushed him and he came out with 5 or 6 pushes, 17 minutes after she was born. It really was an easy experience (especially relative to what I had built it up to be) and the end result was 2 healthy babies!

I did want to say to the ladies out there who, like me, may be considering elective C Section because they are scared that twins will be harder to deliver vaginally, I would really recommend reconsidering vaginal. These past few days have been crazy enough, and I have been thanking my lucky STARS that I don't have to deal with recovering from surgery. Being able to get around, lift the babies easily, etc etc has been great. Of course, everyone has their reasons and I know there are lots of reasons that c sections are wanted and needed, but I just thought I would put that out there from one woman's experience.

Thanks to everyone for all their support - this is the best board ever, and I'll see everyone on the First Year board soon!!

Congratulations and how wonderful that you got a vaginal birth, I'm hoping my flip soon so that I may have the chance to have one too. It's so great to hear when everything goes so smoothly. Hope you soak up all of the new baby smell and enjoy staring at them for hours. :)

 Congrats on the arrival of your 2 babies and on your fast and 'easy' delivery. Baby B is breech so I won't be attempting a vaginal birth/ Hopefully, I won't be following you to the 1st year board for another 4 weeks! ;) LOL
Enjoy the rewards of those long months of pregnancy and here is to the joy of sleepless nights and joy-filled days! :drinks:

you really are a star - you have given me hope, I really want a vaginal birth & not a c section if I can avoid it.

Firstly- CONGRATS on the two healthy little babies, delivered "the old-fashioned way"!

Arkie- I'm in the same boat! As I'm reading this, I'm playing music for the babies 'down there'. 2 weeks ago, Baby A was head down, Baby B was transverse (BTW- Baby B has literally ALWAYS been transverse). I played country music 'down there'. Baby A went breech. Okay, let's try a different kind of music, as apparently they only have their father's DNA in them- now it's They Might Be Giants. I hope it works. I've been talking to them, explaining that while I know they are stubborn (from both parents) we don't want to prove those doctors and statistics right in regard to rates of C-Sections. They are moving like crazy (big moves) now, so maybe it'll work.

    Yeah, I'm desperate. :umm:
