My Babies are here at 34 wks!

I delivered my babies on Thursday the 13th, at exactly 34wks! They are beautiful and I am so in love! My growth u/s Thursday morning showed what the last one had showed.....that little baby girl Aubrey hadn't grown much at all in 2 wks. So it was time! We decided to do a c/s so as to not put stress on little Aubrey and my cervix has been strong and closed as steel so it might've been a moot point to try a vaginal delivery (even though I had hoped to do it vaginally). By then I just wanted them safe and here.

Anyways...............Dylan (boy - Baby A) was 5lbs 1oz and 18 inches long, and Aubrey was 3 lbs 6 oz and 16 inches long. With her lack of growth (and my rising BP), it was decided she would do better outside than inside. Aubrey is still very fiesty and everyone comments on how good they're both doing. DH and I did kangaroo care this afternoon (skin to skin on our chests) and it was great. Aubrey kept lifting up her head. I am pumping and have gotten some colostrum so they both got some of that yesterday afternoon and their tummies handled it well. Yay! Aubrey has slight jaundice this morning so she's under the bililights.

They say they'll be in the hospital 2-3 wks but it all depends on the babies. They could come home sooner too. Both are eating well (NG tube so they don't get too tired out at this point) and love sucking on their pacifiers which is great.

It will be very hard leaving them here at the hospital tomorrow when I leave, but I'll be here every day to see them and hand in the breastmilk. They are so tiny, it's amazing!

After dealing with weeks of couch arrest due to gestational hypertension and worrying about my babies and myself, they're actually here. Now on to new worries! LOL

Babies are truly an amazing miracle and gift. I can't believe they're mine.......and I'm a mother!

I guess that means I 'graduate' to the other forum! Whoa!

 

Congratulations! I'm sorry for the lack of growth but it sounds like the doctors were on top of it. Glad you were ok with the c-section. Take care of yourself and the babies will be with you in no time! :hug: Leaving tomorrow is going to be tough, but they'll be home soon!

I had a scheduled section for the same reason at 36 wks. My babygirl was smaller as well. Glad to hear she is doing well. Keep us posted!! YAY babies!

Thank you everyone!! It has been crazy these last six days, but the babies are doing great. Both are back to their birth weights and at their goal amount and calorie counts per feeding. Dylan has been taken out of his isolette and is now in an open bassinette as of this morning. Yay! Aubrey still needs the isolette as she hasn't maintained her temp w/o it yet. But otherwise, they're both great!

I can't believe they're here and I'm a mom!

GL to you all. It will be here before you know it. Oh, and make sure you prepare yourself for the unexpected. When I went in for my appt, I never dreamed I'd be having my babies within a few hours! You never know!

Congratulations!! I delivered at 34 weeks with similar weights 4lbs11oz and 3lbs12oz. Abby (the four pounder) stayed in two weeks and Taylor stayed in an extra four days, just feeding and growing. So you should have them home in no time at all!! Taylor came home at 4lbs 8oz! She was so tiny in her carseat, but is gaining really well!! Good luck to you and your little ones!!
