don't know what my weight was, i'm guessing it was about the same...my bp was HIGH...150/97....YEAH....i've watching it creep up for the past few weeks so it didn't take me by surprise, it DOES explain the constant headache however, which i've just been attributing to heat (like every other summer)...so they are now watching fore pre-e because i guess i have extra protien in my pee and my feet are SUPER swollen and all of that...they had me lay on my left side and that helped bring it down to 125/75, so that was good, and made them feel a bit better...so i need to try to eat as many fresh fruits and veggies and as little processed food as possible (to keep sodium levels down) and lay on my left side as much as possible...however i'm not sure about the laying thing, my hips HURT and the left one more than the right...even the midwife couldn't believe i was still pg...nor the u/s tech, who i've also seen before....both babies are head down...both have good kidney function and are practicing their breathing (i saw them doing it, way cool!)....jack is a whopping 6 pounds 14 oz and abbey is 6 pounds 2 oz...so he caught up to her and passed her...i'm SO glad i didn't stock up on a ton of newborn sized clothes and diapers, these two will have them outgrown in no time...i don't want an induction, however if i do happen to go in to labor on my own, i am willing and wanting to do a vaginal birth...i REALLY want to avoid the induction however...i see the ob tomorrow for a presurgery appt...i'll get my bp rechecked and i can find out my weight then...i'll also be asking about the tubal and how it's done...i may be getting that done when i have the surgery next week....i'm trying to convince them to NOT have me do a bunch of nst's next week, i really don't feel they will tell them anything beneficial, except maybe let them keep a closer eye on my bp....

and for my question...i've never had pre-e before, not even the borderline needing to watch it kind of thing, so what can i expect with that? what am i supposed to be watching for? i mean, some of the things they told me, i've been having for about a month now (the super swollen feet, headaches, vision going a little "weird" at times) but my bp has always been "acceptable", even though it was high for me personally...my usual bp is about 120/70....this past few weeks i've watched go up to the 130's over 80's and occassionally a 90 or so....the midwives don't check the protien at every visit, so i don't know if that has been creeping up or not...

Did they get you set up for a 24 hour urine test? I had the same issues starting at week 33 with my son. Super high BP and protein in my urine. Fortunately, the 24 hour urine test came back negative-so they classified it as pregnancy induced hypertension. The BP never did go back down. And I really didn't feel all that different. Not sure how much this helps...

Definitely ask! They immediately put me on bedrest and gave me the big orange jug-like thing to pee in. Best of luck to you!

Around 33 weeks my doctor really started watching me closely because I was having the same symptoms that you are having. He was convinced I was working my way toward pre-eclampsia. I did the 24 hour urine catch, it went well. He set me up for induction at 36 weeks 3 days since he just wasn't comfortable with the pre-e threat. I gained about 80 pounds total and most of it was in the latter part of my pregnancy, the doctor kept telling me it's not weight gain it's water retention. I was also on high blood pressure medication already, due to severe migraines during my pregnancy. I would just do the NST's to be on the safe side. Due to the pre-e threat, my team of doctors decided it was best to perform a c-section for the safety of myself and my babies, I'm so glad they did since baby A had her cord snug around her neck twice.
Do keep in mind that you can develop pre-eclampsia up to about 2 months after giving birth. I did within a few days after delivering.

    Good luck!!

They should be checking your protein each visit - especially if there is a concern about Pre-E. I am 32 weeks have high blood pressure, and was just in the hospital for 3 days doing 2 24-hour urine tests because my protein was high, but my blood pressure was good (controlled by meds) and no swelling. THe thing about Pre-E is that it can present itself in many, many different ways (i.e., protein in urine with normal blood pressure, or the classic symptoms of protein, high BP, headaches, vision problems, swelling, etc.).

It needs to be taken serioulsy and all these things need to be checked out. If your headaches get worse, or you see spots in your vision or it gets blurry, and if your blood pressure is high - watch for these things. Make sure that the OB tests for protein in your urine at your appointment.

    Good luck.
