I'm so proud of my son! I've taken him to a couple track work outs with me and I've noticed he's got great form and paces himself pretty well. I just figured my kids will play on the grass while I run, but he actually runs laps. I did a 5K race this weekend, so I decided to sign him up for the 1 mile race. He did great! He ran the whole time, and didn't stop at all to walk. He was focused and paced himself consistently the whole time. He finished in under 10 minutes with those short little legs. And it was 85 degrees out! I'm also a little proud of myself. I finished second (female), and finally (after 6 years) managed to get a new PR, at 22:30. It was a fun day! I don't want to push him, but he wants to do another one soon.

Wow congratulations for both of you! Your son is really cool. Was he competing in the grown up race or there was a children's race? Good for you also, you are cool as well, you're inspiring me to start working out (MORE).

Your have a beautiful family, good for you for instilling the love of sports, I hope he keeps it up.

That's awesome! He looks like a natural! And you look great, too. Congrats to you on your PR!!!

My almost 8 year old loves running, he runs about 2 miles per day during recess ( they have a trail). We are putting him on a cross country team this fall through our local university, he's been begging! I am excited, I ran track and CC in middle and high school and recently started picking it up again, I'm excited he has a love for running too!

aww, thanks for the nice compliments :)

it was a mile fun run, so there were other kids and adults. it wasn't technically timed and everyone received a medal (well, all the kids did at least).

Oh that's great news all around... a mighty nice PR for you and how ecstatic he must have been running a race like mommy!! I hope mine will one day pick it up as well. One of mine has really good form too... wonder what she's going to do with it:))
