My 36 +5 appt today

Well, I had my last regular appt today. Had to recheck my BP which was 133/87. My weight was 164 (so not much difference from Monday)

I met a new dr. today and he was asking me all the questions and asked why I was being delivered on Monday. I said because the other dr. said you don't let twin mommies go past 37 weeks. He said, oh I thought you had twins last pregnancy. I said, nope, this is my one and only.

Then he said that would explain the size of my stomach. He said he needs to check my cervix because I had 3 contractions at 5am this morning. He said I could decline. I almost did but he was persistent and I let him. I NEVER had a male OB before so I was so weirded out and nervous. But the nurse came in with him and we heard the heartbeats, measured my belly and then did the cervical exam.

He said I was 1cm dilated and 75% effaced and he touched the baby's head! Ummm... I asked how could I be 2cm last week and now be 1cm. He said someone's 2cm may be his 1cm (size of hand) Whatever.

I then asked who was on the schedule for Monday and he asked why and I said I am scheduled for a c/s but was told if the dr. refuses to do one they will cancel it and induce me instead. I found out it could be one of 3 drs. One I think I saw a long time ago and the other two I never heard of. So I have no idea what is going to happen. I guess I can try to ask on Sunday when they call with my pre-op instructions. I know either way they will arrive and I need to go with the flow but I really want the c/s!

Anywhoo, he had me do an NST and the babies did wonderful and I was sent home to fester for 2 1/2 more days until they arrive.

I can't believe it is finally here, I am so excited, I can't wait, I am just speechless and have 10 million things going through my mind at the same time.

Congrats on a great apt!! Isn't is creepy when they can touch the head? That always freaked me out! They would poke at Reagan's head and she would just start kicking up a storm. WEIRD!

congrats on making it so far. One thing most women don't realize is that the cervix CAN close back up...so it is possible that your 2cm really did become 1cm...it's also possible that if a woman checked you last time, her fingers are smaller, that what she measured as 2 he would measure as 1. Neither is all that significant in terms of predicting going into labor, unfortunately.
