My 33 Week Appointment

I had my 33 week appt today and here is what we know:

My cervix has thinned to 2cm as opposed to 4cm four weeks ago.

Both boys are head down.

Baby A weighs approx. 5lbs

Baby B weighs spprox. 5.5lbs

(holy! that's almost 11lbs of baby in there right now)

Blood pressure is perfect.

They are planning a vaginal delivery right now.

I have to go back every week from now until they are born.

I think it was a good appointment....

Do you think the babies are extra huge compared to yours???

I don't want to push out two 8lb babies (ouch!)

 

Sounds like the babies are doing great (and are so big!!! :yahoo: ) and so are you! :hug:

 

It sounds like your babies are right on target! I think I read in one of my pregnancy books that they weigh on average between 5 and 6 pounds at the end of eight months. Also, don't forget there is always a margin of error with u/s estimates. With all three of my kids, they measured about 1 lb more in u/s than they actually came out as. Congratulations on a healthy pregnancy so far!

 

What big healthy babies your cooking in there! I agree with the pp as my twins were estimated to be around the 7-8lb range via u/s & were born at 5lbs14oz & 6lbs12oz. Congrats thus far mama!

 

That sounds big to me, but my boys were measured at 4 lb 6 oz and 4lb 7 oz on Friday. My other two were big babies so I was worried about them being too small, especially since they've gone from 87th percentile to 37th in 6 weeks. My OB told me that at some point after 30 weeks, growth really slows down with twins because they pretty much run out of room to grow. So, I wouldn't be surprised if they slow down soon for you too.

 

That is great news! My boys were estimated to be almost 5lbs at 32 weeks, but came out three days later at 3lbs 3oz and 3lbs 11oz. The U/S does have a margin of error.

Hmmmm interesting. I'll keep that in mind and not assume they are little porkers!

 

Mine were estimated at 4 lbs and 4.3 lbs at 32 weeks.. so over 5 does seem a bit big at 33.. but it sounds like everything's going great! Keep up the good work!

I was thinking the same thing. I had an u/s the day before Trevor was born and they gave me his "weight". He was born the next day and was 1 lb under what was estimated. Just something to keep in mind.

Good stats. They sound healthy!

 

My babies measured lower 6lbs range at 34 weeks and were close to 8lbs at 38 weeks (they measured 4lbs5oz and 4lbs6oz at 30 weeks). They gained a little less than 1/2 lbs a week.

If they're right and you'll make it until 38 weeks, based on my numbers, I would say around 7lbs ... but that's just guessing. I agree they're more often wrong than right when assuming large.

 

At 32w5d weeks, Twin A measured at 4 lb 13 oz and Twin B measured 4 lb 4 oz.

It seems yours might be big boys after all, which is a good thing! (-:
