Horray, I can finally say they are sleeping through the night. DD is sleeping anywhere from 8-12 hours straight. My DS, well...he's a bigger boy so he's sleeping about 7-8 then he needs a bottle. My problem is is they are sleeping this well only in the bouncy seats. I am okay with letting them sleep there but eventually they will outgrow them. When do suggest moving them to the crib? Do you think moving them to the crib will make them wake again? If so, how do I handle it?

That is awesome! I hope that at three months my DSs are sleeping through. They are doing better, but nowhere near what yours are doing. Mine currently sleep in the pack and play downstairs, so I have no advice, but I am interested to see what others say.

I don't know because we put ours in the cribs immediately, but it did disrupt their napping when we switched them from napping in swings to the crib.

Maybe give it a shot one weekend. I think the key is to try and be consistent. So once you start, you might not want to go back and forth. Good luck!

We are using HSHHC and moved to crib naps about a week ago. It works great for DD - she seems far more rested than when she slept in her bouncy chair but I think that her just "falling asleep" versus being put to sleep made a big difference.

On the other hand DS is a totaly crazy man. I think because he was colicy he now has a very hard time going back to sleep if he wakes. He seems to do better in a car seat and/or swing - they both will go much much longer in a car seat then the crib. We resort to it often but we really try to have both sleeping flat and still.

If I had to do it all over again I would have started sooner in the cribs and have been more consistent with soothing method. Ours seem more well rested when they are "put to sleep" in a quiet room not our living room. They are now taking 3-4 naps a day.

Good luck. The transition to crib naps even for DD was really rough for a few days.

Let me/us know how it goes and if you figure out any tricks.

I just got DD to where she would sleep in a crib at night but she sleeps so good now. Before she was sleeping in her carseat or swing all day and she would wake up a lot screaming her head off. Now she falls right out when I put her in her crib. Her mattress is elevated b/c of her reflux but she sleeps so good. It did take about four nights of screaming to get her to the point where she is now but it was worth it. I woud just put her down and stand beside the crib and rub her back and put her passy back in. I am going to do DS the same way next week after the holidays. He is still napping in the carseat and it is driving me nuts so I am definately ready to get him in the crib. I did them one at a time b/c it was just too impossible to get them both in their cribs sleeping/napping at the same time. So that is why I did them seperately. I think if you move them to the cribs they will sleep the same amout of time if not more time. I know DD sleeps a lot longer now. Good luck.

We switched to the cribs at about 3 months and it was actually not a big deal. We were still rocking/soothing them to sleep at that point (we did CIO at about 4 months), so we would just put them down asleep and they slept just as long as they did in the bouncy seats. Well, maybe for the first few nights they woke a little more often (they were waking twice to eat at that point anyway), but I wouldn't call it a "rough" transition. I think they were just ready.

One way to make the transition easier is to put the bouncy seats in the cribs at first. That way they at least get used to the new environment. We didn't put the seats in the cribs, but we did move them to the nursery (they'd been in the living room) for about a week before we tried the cribs.

Congrats!!! mine slept through around that time, too. Mine always slept in their crib, though - just so I would have to make this switch. I would do is slowly, starting w/ naps in their cribs. then move to nighttime. Mine also slept on their bellies - i know, i know - so that helped them.

    Good luck and congrats!!!

I think try it and see, we tried to move to crib naps last week and failed miserably, the babies just weren't ready, but plan on trying again in a week or two. They do sleep pretty well in the pack and play though so I can't complain too much.

Congrats on sleeping through the night, mine are still up for a 3 a.m. feed, but go back to sleep within 20 minutes.

Hi everyone! Just wanted to let you know I just decided to put them in the crib to see how it went. We're on night 2 an not a problem at all. DS got a little fussy the first night but I ended up taking him out so he didn't wake his sister (both in the same crib till the first of the year...DH still needs to build the other crib). I held him for 20 minutes to soothe him and out and down he went without a problem. Thanks for all the advice.
