Well first off, passed my gluclose test and my urine was fine!! Both babies are looking good and are breech (no biggie) and the doctor said that they are within 1/10th of a pound from each other.. said that is fine. Any thoughts there? Also looking at deliverying around December 4 or 6.

BUT the not soooo good news, I have gained 10 pounds in the last 4 weeks!! So I feel like hitting the gym or going on a diet.. that makes for a total of only 22 pounds at 24 weeks.. I gained nothing the first 12 cause I was so sick and at 20 weeks I was 167 and today was 177.. YIKES!! I am frantic now that I am going to be a cow.. and with 12 weeks to go still!!

I am glad that you and the babies had such a great appointment!

If your doctor is not concerned about your weight gain, then don't worry about it. It's normal to be alarmed to have put on weight in 4 weeks but remember that you have two babies growing in there and they are growing strong and healthy! Keep up the good work!

gaining that much in a week was nothing for me! My doctor even laughed one time when she pulled up my shirt to measure me...she said, "yep, you're growing!" I started my pregnancy at 143 and ended it at 222 :) and I lost down to 135 when I was still bf'ing, but uh, I weigh about 153 now. Anyways...I'm glad you had a good appt...and maybe that just means you are cooking up two little fat butterballs :)

It's good for the babies! You can diet and excercise when the babies are here but for now focus on the health of the babies. I'm in the same boat though, I started off about 125 and am now a whopping 160!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YIKES.

Don't worry about the sudden weight gain! The same thing happened to me at my 24 week. It's like my appetite finally caught up with me. Just watch your calorie intake from here out and try to gain the recommended amount as best as possible. Try to eat "good" foods and not junk. You'll be back on track in no time. You shouldn't try to LOSE, though. Just worry about how much you're gaining, and if you get ahead, just re-check yourself. GL! I'm working on the same thing!

I had the same shock at 24 weeks. I am now up to 24 pounds gained. My dr. is not worried about it, so I am going to try not to panic about it either.

I had a month like that. I gained almost nothing the first trimester but really packed it on in the second. The gain slowed considerably in the third as I struggled to fit enough food in my squished stomach to meet their demands. I ended up with a net gain of 50 and 45 of that was gone in the first three weeks. I'm now 18 pounds below my pre-preg weight -- chasing toddlers is good exercise.

If you gained 10 pounds every month, the doc would say something but at this point I don't think it's uncommon.

Congratulations on your good appt and your healthy weight gain!

Sounds like you've got twins in there; keep up the good eating ;) It will all fall away once they start crawling around and you're chasing after them (yeah right, that's what I tell myself, anyway LOL)

I'm at 42 pounds weight gain today. I am so shocked at the past week...I've put on 10! The doc said mostly fluid. Anyway, I gained 32 pounds from week 20 to week 32 and not one pound before that. I think we just gain differently. I was getting worried at 20 weeks because I hadn't gained anything but then BAM! it all hit at once. DON'T DIET and be careful with any new gym stuff. Remember, we have only 9 months to give these two fat and happy starts to their lives and we have the rest of our lives to loose the excess. (at least that's the pep talk I keep giving myself).

Don't worry about the weight gain-my hi-risk dr suggested 2lbs per week starting @ 20 weeks...you want the babies big and healthy! I am sure we have all had our growth spurts some weeks-I know I have!

I've gained 9lbs in 5 days! I keep telling myself its water weight and has nothing the do with the two McDonalds value meals in the same amount of time.

I wouldn't stress over the weight gain... It actually sounds like you are on target. Early weight gain is key since twins are often early! Keep up the good work!

Glad to hear your appt went well! I agree with everyone else, don't diet and don't stress too much at this point. According to Dr. Luke's book, 24 pounds by 24 weeks is ideal :) I'm not a doctor, but it seems to me that the pattern of your ongoing weight gain will become more important than the weight gain at this current time. They're monitoring you and I would hope if they had a concern they would discuss with you :)

I think it sounds like you are doing great! Unless the dr. mentions a problem with that amount of weight gain, then don't worry about it. For 3 months straight with my twins, I gained 12 lbs. a month...yep, 36 lbs. in a 3 month period. I cried at every apt. i got weighed. I was so upset. I had lost 100 lbs. prior to getting pregnant and was a size 8 pre-preggo. I gained 65 lbs. during my twin pregnancy in the short 34 weeks I was pregnant. I lost all but 4 of those pounds within the first 9 months after they were born. This time around, I gained some of it back adn was a size 12 pre-preggo. I'm trying not to 'let myself go", but it's SO hard knowing that I will just be back on a diet afterwards...I just want to eat WHATEVER I want right now. I've gained 7 lbs. so far...much better than last time, that's for sure.

Hang in there, you are doing great!

I think you are doing great too! Every book I have ever read on twins says that you should gain a lb a week in a twin pgy. So sounds like you are on track and if the dr. didn't mention it being a problem don't sweat it off just yet, keep those babies cooking and worry about it after. They only wanted me to gain 35lbs because of my size and my weak cervix. Well 2 weeks ago, I passed that mark and still have 1-3 weeks left.

My thoughts as well. If the doctor isn't worried about the weight gain I wouldn't be.
