The boys start fussing the second we put them down in the play area in the morning. They scream until bfast is served (up to a 5-minute wait). Then, they start whining/screaming/crying the second they are put down again after bfast. I have had to resort to showing them a Baby Einstein/Signing Times DVD every morning (they love these). The only time they aren't fussing is when they are eating, sleeping, or we're out of the house.

We get out of the house everyday from noon-2:30ish (still trying to balance that 2-nap schedule)
We go for a walk every evening before dinner
We play in the yard or at the park every day when the weather is cooperative.

I try to rotate our toy collection out to keep their interest. We are not in need of more toys (if anything, less). I think sep. anxiety has a big role in their current behavior, the other part is sheer boredom. Is this just par for the course?

Seems like right after 12 mos. was particularly hard for us. The cling-on's were in full form! Hang in there and keep trying new stuff!! :hug99: This, too, shall pass!

Yes...I remember that stage at 15 months. They are a lot less whiney now (although kids just whine sometimes)...its a phase dear...I know its annoying!!

Good luck!! It does get better.

Glad you posted this. We have been going through the same thing. Glad to know I am not alone. Sounds like it is a phase.

My boys have been this way since birth. THey whine/cry from the moment they wake up until the moment they go to bed, generally speaking. I feel your pain.

Mine were miserable, whiney and clingy from 14-17 months. Then all of a sudden at 18 months it got SOOO much better! Something that did help was to teach them some sign language. It helped with the frustration of not being able to communicate with us yet. I hope it gets better for you soon :)

We are having some trouble with this kind of stuff too. I'm pretty sure one of my girls is about to get some new teeth, which I think may be contributing to the problem. And of course some of it is separation anxiety. I hope it goes away soon!

Mine did not go through that stage TOO badly, but I do remember that they whined a lot more at 12-14 months than they do now. It is also much worse when they're teething, and yet we never quite realize they're teething until it's been going on for a day or so.

Not sure I'm excited to hear that this is normal, or depressed to hear that it may be another 4 mos  before we see any improvement.

We are also having a teething boom (both got 6 teeth at once, and we're not quite through the phase yet).

Thanks for the (miserable) company. ;)
