I've offered them the cups starting at 6 months. They love to chew on them... and they accidently get some liquid when they chew on the soft tipped ones, but they won't drink from them. Should I be concerned?

Have you tried straws? I wouldn't be concerned. I don't think Evan could drink from them until about 15 months, but I didn't try really before then. At some point you may think about skipping most sippies and just go with an open cup.

I never start to push a cup until my kids are a year old. By the time they are 14 or 15 months old (at the very latest) they've got it down. Up until then, it's still bottles. I figure if they are still learning to feed themselves and hold their bottles, how are they going to be able to handle a cup?

After buying what seemed like 100 different kinds of sippy cups, we've finally found a good trainer cup and I highly recommend it -- Tupperware sippy's with lids. They're still getting used to it, but it has worked far more better than any other of the ones that we've tried.

Just want to ditto on the suggestion to try straw cups. Our favorites are the Munchkin brand. They hardly ever leak (all straw cups build up pressure, so there's no getting around it) and the girls will down about 5-6 of them in a day.

My 15 month old still can't drink from a sippy, he just doesn't have the coordination nor the muscle control to drink from a sippy or regular cup. He can however drink from a stray like previous posters suggested. I wouldn't worry about it yet.

I give my boys sippys at mealtimes. I had to show them to tilt ther're heads back like they do bottles so that they could get it. I did this for a week, and now ok. I also tried different brands, that didn't matter it's how my boys hold them.
At 12 months with my other kids I did straw sippes.
