What about a train table and trains. My girls love their trains. They also love dolls and little people.

I'm trying to think of boy toys. Do they have little basketball nets for 2-year olds? That might be fun for them. Or any art supplies, dress up clothes (superheroes, doctors, pirates etc), Legos, Sand and water table, play-doh sets....

My boys love their train table, and all their vehicles, especially a big dump truck. Also, wooden building blocks.

Little Tikes makes remote controlled cars for age 2+!!! I had no idea they existed but my boys each got one for their birthday and they were the big hit gift. They were also excited about megablocks, musical instruments (they each got a 7-piece "band in a bucket"), and an aquadoodle.

The "not so thrilled" gifts were a small basketball hoop and a soccer net with an electronic target. I think they just plain don't get it yet so they may like these things later.

Our two big hits with Ben are megablocks and our Geotrax train system. I can't wait to add more pieces to his train set at Christmastime!

Another vote for the train table and trains. I didn't know it was a must-have at the time, but FIL gave them wooden Thomas sets for their first birthday (way too young <_<). Once they were two, they were ready to play with the train cars by themselves and by the time they were two and a half, they were using the tracks as well. If the Thomas stuff gets too pricey, the off-brand wooden trains and tracks are all compatible with each other and much cheaper.
