    Favorites here are

    Laurie Berkner (multiple Cds)

They Might Be Giants (multiple Cds)

Basic Classical Music (they call it ballet music)

    Fresh Beat Band

    Hap Palmer (multiple Cds)

    Raffi (multiple CDs)

    Disney Princess Cds (multiple)

We often get kids CDs from the library and listen to them---if we like them we can purchse them, but then we arent wasting money on CDs no one likes! (Dan Zane is popular, but neither one liked him much).

At the moment -- the Broadway soundtrack to "Peter Pan" (1950s Mary Martin version). I can do a fairly good Mary Martin impersonation by this point.

But in younger days  , they seemed to prefer traditional toddler music -- collections that included "Wheels on the Bus," "Bingo," "Frog Went a-Courtin'," etc. They like things that include songs they know, or else songs that they can hear & understand the lyrics to -- for example, "Happy Music" by a band called Milkshake.

They also loved "Blue Moo" by Sandra Boynton, though they liked the music a lot more after we'd read the book several hundred times. Familiarity is key!

I was a TMBG fan in college, and I've tried "Here Come the ABCs," but we all find it grating.

When I was pg, my DH's boss burned copies of Ralph Covert for us. I would put them on when they were babies and now at 2 they really enjoy his music. I have on of his cd's (At the bottom of the sea) in my car and we sing along to it. I think I like him so much because we're both from Chicago and some of his songs refer to the city.

    Here's his link

My girls love music, but they pretty much listen to the music we listen to, 80's stuff mostly. My husband keeps the radio on all day and they definitely have their favorites. Their biggest fav is The Beatles..they can almost sing then entire song Across the Universe...I keep the I AM SAM soundtrack in my van and they usually ask me to play it. They also love REM...pretty much because of the Shiny Happy People song that they sang on Sesame Street (Shiny Happy Monsters). We have some children's music for them, but pretty much they love our music. So maybe compiling some of the songs you love would be good for them...it would be sort of a keepsake for them when they get older.

My favorite is Barenaked Ladies - Snacktime, but they also listen to Laurie Berkner and the Backyardigans. I recently got them Devo 2.0 which was created by Disney with remakes from the original Devo. It's pretty cool if you like 80's music.

My boys love Laurie Berkner. Jackson loves opera but Jacob hates it. I need to let Jack listen to it with headphones or Jacob screams us out of the room until it gets turned off (lovely! :gah: ).

Trout Fishing in America. Great "boy" stuff like "My Hair Had a Party Last Night" (about bedhead). They make me laugh. Another vote for BNL and They Might Be Giants, too.

I second the rec for getting music out of the library to try it. I also make a new playlist "mix" once a month and mix regular music with kids music - it keeps us all happy!

Love Marley's kids albums, some Disney, Bare Naked Ladies

My girls listen to my music... so whatever I have in the CD player in the van, or on my iPod at home. We listen to music every night at dinner and have a dance party after dinner. Last night we rocked out with ABBA! The night before it was No Doubt. They also like Laurie Berkner on NickJr, but we don't have any of her CDs. I have to say I'm not a big fan of 'kid-specific' music, but her stuff is really cool.

Tom Chapin and Sandra Boynton for children's music, plus whatever I happen to be listening to. Lately I've been hearing my son singing what he can remember from the Camelot soundtrack, and all four of them know the words and tune to "No More Drama in My Life" (not sure of the real title or artist), which is highly entertaining.

Thank you all for the great suggestions. I think I will check them out at the library and see what they like the best.
