    Hello!

I'm trying to give the twins the opportunity to listen to all kinds of music. I recently ordered a couple
cd's with a mix of baby friendly songs performed by the original artists (adult artists who did baby songs).

Does anyone have any good recommendations for other types of music; such as good classical cds geared for
babies, or guitar songs, or even a mix of rock songs? I know I could make one myself with the rock stuff, but
I would like to purchase a classical cd. I wanted one definitely made for babies, as classical can get pretty crazy
with all the lows and highs and I don't want to scare the babies :D I could just see them playing in the floor with
a nice steady flow of music and then WHAM those big loud instruments come blaring in!!!!

I've seen a million out there, I've done the searches, read some reviews. Instead of guessing, I'd like to get a recommendation.

    Thanks everyone!

I have been very happy with the Baby Einstein CD's of classical composers. I also sometimes just put on the tv. We have Direct TV and they have music stations of every XM kind.

I also put on the TV to radio stations or we just listen to the radio or music on my iPod. Sorry. I don't have any CD recommendations. We do have one classical lullaby cd, but we rarely listen to that one. The girls are really into classical music right now and call it "ballerina music" since we saw the nutcracker over the holidays.

I'm a big fan of They Might Be Giants, we listen to them almost every day. I liked them a lot before the babies, but I really like them now :) The songs are super catchy and the words are pretty easy, so I can sing along. They do have a kid's album called "Here Come the ABC's" but we listen to all of it.

Also, and this is kind of silly, we also listen to Weird Al sometimes. Since he covers all different types of music, but the words are changed to be silly, I think it's a good fit.

this is going to be an odd suggestion but i like parry gripp for silly fun songs. most of the tracks are total nonsense and are really short. but they're really catchy and really fun to dance around to with the boys. i sing "boogie boogie hedgehog" and "do you like waffles" to them a lot. i also like "chimpanzee riding on a segway" but once they're old enough to understand lyrics they're going to think mommy's nuts. :p

Those songs were hilarious! Very punk. I also like They Might Be Giants, thanks to the previous poster for the cd recommendation.
I will search for more of their stuff.
I just got a cd with a mix of songs and there was one on there called where do they make balloons.

Thanks everyone! I'll let you know what else I come up with! I, too, have direct tv...I've got to find those channels. :D

I just play my ipod. I figure if I teach them (program them? :p ) to like the music I like, then maybe we can avoid Hannah Montana-itis down the road. I put together a playlist of everything that was not super heavy and we just listen to that on shuffle. They really like Rodrigo y Gabriela for when they're playing (it totally gets them moving) and they seem pretty happy with just about everything else. I have a lot of latin music on there, plus early Wilco, Willie Nelson, Alice Smith, Everything But the Girl, a few Putomayo cd's (those are so great - Mali to mephis is one of my faves), Emmylou Harris, Vampire Weekend, and loads more. Hope that helps!

We listen to a lot of different music in the car since DH and I both listen to many different kinds. When we are home on the weekends they listen to whatever I happen to be in the mood for through sirius radio through DishNetwork. We try to switch it up a lot during the day. At night while they are winding down I put on the classical pops station and they like that, it seems to be a little more mellow than some of the other classical stations. The music they REALLY seem to like though are the same stuff that we listen to a lot like Green Day, AC/DC and 80's hair bands. Their favorite right now seems to be Twisted Sister........

what have I don't to my kids?? lol

We subscribe to Rhapsody and use a Squeezebox to connect it to our home stereo system. There are a lot of playlists on there with all sorts of music and we've downloaded a bunch of them that people have made for thier own children and babies. I've made a few myself and it's a lot of fun and exposes the babies to all different kinds of music.

Right now we are listening to music from musicals.
At night we switch between lullabies (from around the world) and various classical playlists.
Sometimes we play folk music and children's folk music (like Puff the Magic Dragon and House at Pooh Corner).
At times I even play the old Shirley Temple stuff.

A friend of my mom's is a professional singer of childrens' music - Nancy Raven - I highly recommend her cds. My boys just LOVE her songs!
