Just thought I'd post about our success for anyone else struggling with bedtime (as we have been for a LONG time).

We added music to our bedtime routine two weeks ago -- we play the same song on repeat at the start of bedtime and while I nurse and change them. My DH was very skeptical that it would matter at all to babies, but it has been remarkable. No matter what the girls are doing right before we start bedtime (ie even if they seem wide awake and are playing and laughing), it only takes a minute or two of the music before they put their heads down on our shoulders and start making their going to sleep noises. And bedtime is now a breeze -- they go down with no fussing at all. Woo Hoo!

Great deal! We've always played a lullaby CD at sleep time (naps and night time) on repeat all night. My girls are almost 2 and it has to be on. If I forget to hit repeat and it stops after the first round, they wake up [IMG] We also have the white noise machine going all night.

Out of curiosity, what song do you play?

I have B101 on low all night. I used to do the lullabye CD since they were tiny but I do not have repeat and I would have to keep replaying it. My boys were not good sleepers and I am lucky they actually sleep through the night now, they do wake but I do not go in.

Yay for babies who go to sleep!!!! We also played music (and still do sometimes). For many many months our dds went to sleep to Lord of the Rings music. (we took out any creepy songs or songs that were too intense.) During the day I always play a Bach cd to kind of separate the nap time music with the night time music.

We play the slow movements from "Spring" and "Winter" of Vivaldi's "Four Seasons." DH is a bit of a music snob and refused to play anything that he saw as annoyingly dummed down (ie any lullaby CDs that reduced classical songs to a few instruments or a synthesizer) [IMG] so we listened to various tracks from our classical collection until we found some that were relaxing and not too complex (which apparently doesn't soothe babies because it stimulates their brains too much).

I love the lullaby cd we have been listening to now for 6 months!!! I bought a few when they were born but this is my favorite and and has become theirs. It is the only one we play. It is by Johnsons and is called 'Bedtime Lullabies'
