I have to start off by saying that the twins bedding came in yesterday and although the weather was blizzard/ice like last night I just couldn't wait to go and pick everything up...so exicted. Needless to say a HUGE gust of wind caught me on the way out to the car and blew me and the cart about 10 feet. In order to not fall on the ice, I kind of did a split like manouver. Well about 10:00 PM my hooie started to hurt really badly, like I had pulled a muscle. This morning it still hurt with the addition of feeling a lot of pressure. I went to the bathroom and just lost a very big part of my mucus plug.

I have to say that I have not felt the babies move very much this morning, but that is not uncommon. I also have not had any contractions.

Scared to death that I may deliver these babies WAY too early, I called my doc. She said that with multiples there is more mucus and it is not uncommon to lose part of it this early. The pressure and pain I am feeling is probably due to the almost fall. That I should take it easy and take Tylenol for the pain. If I lose another large amount of the plug in the next 2 days I should call, but other than that everything should be fine.

Any others out there lose part or all this early? How long after you lose the plug do you usually go into labor? I have to do whatever I can to keep these guys in for a lon gtime yet.

I lost the first part of my mucous plug at 25 weeks 1 day and the rest of it at 25 weeks 5 days. I was in PTL though. My Dr was also not concerned, and I was in the hospital when I lost it. I don't think losing your mucous plug is an indication that you are going to have these babies soon. If you are worried, I would have it checked out. Are you feeling any kind of contractions? Good Luck! I hope your "hooie" feels better soon.

I must say that I never saw evidence of any mucous plug with my singletons. I've always tended to dilate slowly and painlessly to 5 cm by 37 weeks, and all of my babies so far have come within one week of their due dates, one a week early - one a day early - and one three days late. But I never saw the mucous plug. I have this thing that birthing classes ought not teach first time moms that it's going to be "textbook L&D" because everybody experiences something different. . . I don't think mucous plugs are always a sign of labor.

Do take it easy though to keep those little ones baking! I remember I would freak out on those "quiet" days when the babies seemed to be way too still for my liking. If I felt uneasy about it, I'd definitely make my doc take a look!

I read somewhere that if you lose your plug way early and are not in labor it can come back. I don't know how true this is, but thought it might help to soothe your mind a bit. B)

I lost bits of my mucous plug in week 27 and 28, but then it stopped. Just started again yesterday, but this time I hope it means something :)
