Did anyone find that either of their babies were very mucousy? My surviving twin is still spitting up mucous and it comes out his nose too causing him to choke.

    Hi!
Although my son doesn't spit it up, that I can tell, he is super mucousy. He sounds very nasal and raspy. My pedi says it's fine, not to worry, but he sounds like it ALL THE TIME. I think it is honestly genetic, as I sound the same way....poor kid. He does spit up, but not large amounts. Mostly, he just drools incredibly! Seriously, it's amazing the amount of drool that comes out!

At 1 or 2 months old the boys sounded nasal and raspy like they had colds but there was nothing coming out the nose. The Dr. said that is very normal. It sounds like your son has a lot more than "normal" and it would be worth a call (or visit) to the peds. Maybe he does have a cold. I get really nervous about extra mucous b/c I am very afraid of pneumonia. Do his lungs sound okay?

Is he on formula? If so, what kind? It can be a sign of allergy.

We had a lot congestion sounds for the first month or two. Using a humidifier at night seemed to help a bit. I also agree about the formula allergy too. Worth a call.

Both of mine are very raspy. Baby A was born with fluid in his lungs, and spent a large portion of his first week spitting up mucous - which I found a little scary at times. They both are stuffy and actually snore a little still.

My girls were like that. We literally had bulb syringes everywhere (car, carseats, each crib, each room) because they would turn blue while choking. Ped said it was likely just saliva and to use a humidifier. He seemed to be correct and it did help. We don't use it anymore as it seems they have learned how to swallow their spit effectively :) I know it really freaked us out for a while but thankfully they outgrew it. It never hurts to call your ped, though.

We were at the Ped last week and she said it was normal. His lungs were fine. But it still freaks me out. I have a humidfier in the living room as we spend more time in there then in my room. But I am thinking of buying one for my room to. It seems to makes a difference.
He does have a milk allergy. We spent 5 days in the hospital to find that out and he is on Alimentum formula now.
