No, I have friends who never lost it. My best friend lost hers 2 weeks before she went into labor. And with my DS I lost mine in the morning and my water broke that night. It's one of those weird things that you should be on alert if you lose it, but it's not a good indicator of anything. Sorry!

I don't believe so, I think some can loose it during delivery?
Some loose it weeks before going into labor & some (like me) never went into labor (scheduled c-section) so didn't lose it at all :good:

Hopefully some others on here will have more insight for you :)

With my daughter I was expecting to... but I think it just slowly came out over time. There was nothing really to tell me that I lost it. But I must have because my water broke.

No, not everyone. I went into labor on my own with Hannah, and never lost one.

Really its the contractions. Once they get to be at regular intervals and more than about 6 an hour you should call your OB.

I lost mine at 24 weeks and didn't deliver until 28 weeks 1day.

technically, yes, everyone loses their mucous plug (i mean, it has to be out of the way for baby to be born vaginally) but it isn't necessarily very obvious nor does it happen at the same point in labour for everyone. for me, i just had a slightly thicker discharge a couple of days before i went into labour - i think that was my mucous plug, but i'm not 100% sure.

Losing the mucous plug really doesn't mean much of anything, unfortunately. You can even lose it more than once because they will rebuild. I think I lost it about three times in my last pregnancy  The only 100% sign is progressing contractions.
