Moving Twins Into Same Room

I'm looking for a little advice. My twins are 2.5yrs old and have had separate rooms since they were about 7mos old. Now, with my 4th child due in a few weeks, I need to move the girls into the same room once again. After a really bad first night, the last few nights have gone much better and they were asleep in 30mins or less. My problem area is with nap time.

My one twin, Alana, goes to sleep really quickly and has always been a good sleeper. Giana, on the other hand, has always been the difficult sleeper and now likes to just keep talking throughout nap. For the past 2 days it's taken me an hour to get her to go sleep...and that's with my being in the room to shhh her when needed. Clearly, this is not the way I want her to go to sleep but I'm not sure what else to do. I've tried several things and the only thing that catches her attention to know I'm serious is the threat of removing her favorite dolly. When I tried taking that away yesterday, she started wailing so loud that she nearly woke up her sister so I gave it back.

Anyway, I'm at a road block with naps and was hoping for some other ideas on what to do, remembering that she's 2yrs and opinionated right now. Thanks in advance for your input!

Can you possibly separate them just for naps? Maybe a pack and play in your room?

I've always had to separate my kids for naps. If they re together, it's play time. Night time is no big deal in the same room, but naps are a different story.

Right around two and a half, my kids LOVED making little nests on the floor with blankets, is there somewhere she can do that for nap?

My girls have always napped separate and now at 3 1/2, DD1 sleeps in her own bed and DD2 sleeps in the baby's room in his crib, and the baby sleeps in my room in a pack - n- play. Will your 4th baby have a crib available just for naps for your older one?

Or you could put your Giana in the pack-n-play in your bedroom but we choose to put my DS in there instead because obviously he fits in the PNP better than his sister. Fortunately DD2 has never cared that she is sleeping in a crib while her sister gets to sleep in her own bed. She actually likes that she gets to nap in her brothers room.

Having many kids napping at the same time is challenging no doubt. For a while when DD2 was resisting naps I used to have to sit in the rocking chair in her room until she fell asleep trying to nurse the baby or praying the baby wouldn't wake up while she was trying to fall asleep. You'll get through it...

Thanks ladies for the advice! Sounds like I'm definitely not alone with napping! I have been starting them out together and then moving one out to her old room on that mattress (which will be the new baby's) after a few minutes of them playing around. Maybe I will keep a pack n play in my room for someone's naps. Thankfully, my good sleeper, Alana, doesn't mind moving rooms at all. I think this will be harder than I thought! But at least night time has been good...guess I should be happy about that one! Thanks again!
