So I'm 35 weeks, and I'm doing the NST's 2 times a week. At my last one on thursday, Baby B 's heart wasn't excelling the way they would like it to, it just kinda stayed at one point. My OB had to leave in the middle of the nst to deliver another baby, so he told his nurse to keep an eye on it. The days before, he hadn't really been active, but I chalked it up to maybe they were just running out of space, but the NST worried me. Anyway, after the doc left, it went up once so the nurse disconnected me and told me to go. I felt like she shoulda monitored me longer. Yesterday, B wasn't moving but maybe twice, so around 8pm I called my doc and he said to go get monitored, but I had to wait for someone to be able to sit with my older kids. That wasn't until 10pm, and by then he was moving.

So, my question is, how much movement should I feel? When should I worry? Am I supposed to do those kick counts?

I think, given the doctor's previous concern, that he should be answering these questions for you. If I were you, I think I'd call him. Better safe than sorry!!

I just asked my ob this on thursday as well, the babies are NOT moving like they used to.

He figures they are just out of room. They were measuring 4 lbs 4 oz and 4 lbs 11 oz at 31 wks, so that was 4 weeks ago.

He did however run an NST on thursday to be sure, and while little girl was a mover shaker, it took us twice as long to get some movements out of little man.

He said to do a "modified" kick count, which is proving to be more useful and accurate than the 10 count kick count.

He said at least once, if possible twice a day, laydown on my left side and check the time. If in 1 hr I feel at least 4 movements from each baby, we're all good. If I haven't felt 4 movements from each (even if it's only been 3 movements), get up, drink some more water or something, lay back down and try it again for a second hour. If I feel 4 movements each, we're good. If I don't, call and go have an NST done.

He said since they are big, and they have sleep cycles now, it could take 2-3 hours to get 10 movements each. The modified kick count for 1 hour gives me a definete yes/no answer. Yes, babies moved, we're good. Nope, babies didn't move enough, call and go in!

I am right there with you

i get worried about my baby B who has taken up residence under my ribcage for the past week or so. i rarely feel him move, even though i just had an u/s last week and they could barely get measurements cause there is just no room anymore. My DH hates when i stress about it, but thats what mothers do.

Thanks so much ladies! I just needed the comfort in knowing that other people are sharing my experiences. This pregnancy is much more nerve wracking than my singletons!
