For part of week 17 and most of week 18 I was feeling little pokes or kicks off and on, mostly when I'm laying down, but occasionally when sitting up. But for the last week, I haven't felt anything. I was really worried, and went to my regular appointment last Wednesday. The doctor just did a doppler and she found the boys heart beats (156 and 161), and actually said, "Wow! I feel bad for you. They are SO active."

Is it normal to go through phases where you feel them less? I was really assured by their little pokes and kicks, and when they stopped, of course I started to worry ... okay, more like freak out. I'm just surprised if they are moving around that much that I can't feel anything ... makes me nervous. I have an ultrasound next Wednesday with a specialist, because my BP has been high throughout my pregnancy, but I may go crazy before laying around waiting for someone to move.

Hi Allison first of all, congratulations on two boys....(that is what we are expecting too!!)

depending on how they are laying in your uterus.....if they are laying with their limbs towards the inside....you may not be able to feel them. I know what you mean about the reassurance of their movements. One thing that I do...is put a cold water bottle on them. That gets them moving!

    Take care and best wishes,

    Missy

Hi Allison! I've been feeling my twins since about 17 weeks. There have definitely been days I didn't feel them at all. Actually, the day I had my big u/s last week (19 weeks, 5 days), I hadn't felt them all day. But they were moving around on the ultrasound and everything was fine.

The placenta could possibly be in front therefore blocking some of the movement you feel. That is how one of mine was.

I know how you feel! Ive been feeling one of mine a LOT - especially today. But my other one I don't feel very much at all. I think I have felt her a couple times. But she does have an anterior placenta, and I'm guessing that's why. But, I'd still rather feel them both :)

Same with me too. I got worried at one stage and called the hospital - I was 20weeks and they said I shouldn't even be feeling anything. LOL. Guess it must be a twin thing to feel them that early. (16 weeks for me)
I wouldn't worry, when I was as early as you, I would sometimes go for days without feeling anything. Even now I can go for a few hours without feeling anything. Enjoy the peace. As we speak my right ribs are aching because twin A is pushing on them.

[SIZE=10pt]i am so jealous of all of you! i'll be 20 weeks on tuesday and still have not really felt anything (a flutter or two on each sice, but no kicks or anything stronger). i had my level 2 u/s last week and both babies measured fine and all was (mostly) well, but i'm still a little nervous. i go back in a week to check again (and check on amnio sacs, which were not even last week).

i keep reading that the kicks and jabs are not even in the beginning, so i wouldn't worry. if the boys are really active (i've got two boys coming, too!) then i would just enjoy the peace for now--cuz they'll probably be bugging you a lot in the next few weeks!

    take care, jl

I am 24 weeks and I feel them every day, but some days I feel them more than others. I went to my peri last week and asked him about it and when I should be concerned and he said I am only 24 wekks and I won't really see a routine until about 28 weeks, just as long as I am feeling them throughout the day than we were fine. It's still nervewracking though! :(
