    Hi All,

My DH has been asking me what I want for Mother's Day. My DH and I aren't big gift givers. We normally just buy each other a nice card for Valentine's Day and anniversaries. However, I feel like I do want something special since this is my first Mother's Day. Does anyone have any suggestions?

On that same note . . . I would also love gift ideas for my DH's first Father's Day.

    TIA!

My hubby and I aren't big gifters either...
but, I know what I'd like... a day out shopping and getting a manicure or my hair done without having to worry about the kids. Yes, I know I will still worry about them.... but I would still love that!!!!!
My hubby always wants us to go somewhere as a family and he likes to show off his family! So, we'll probably go to lunch somewhere and he loves to go to our local car show which is always on Father's day weekend....
For us it is about outings- cause we are always busy or stuck in the house...
And normally if we want something special we just go ahead and get it if we can afford it...
Hope you get some good answers from everyone- because I'd love to see some good ideas too!!!! :D

How about a Mother's bracelet? Or a picture of the kids converted to a framed painting or drawing?

A day of beauty at a spa (or maybe just a mani or pedi).
A special piece of jewelry with their birthstone.
A new tree planted in honor of them.
Brunch at a nice place, maybe somewhere you wouldn't normally go.
A g.c. to Victoria's Secret to get something to make you feel good.
An appointment to have your picture taken with the babies.

Hmmm...I'll let you know if I think of anymore!

    ETA: Forgot dad's day!
    New barbeque tools.
A special photo of the babies wearing outfits for his favorite team.
(I'm doing this for my hubby - a picture of the girls in their Red Sox dresses)
A "day off" to go golfing, etc. guilt free.
Coupons for car washes or even better, get his car detailed.

I handmade a Valentine's card for my dh from the girls and outlined their hands. He LOVED it.

Not sure what Dh has planned for mothers day (something i hope ;) )
For fathers day i am buying at out local craft store these garden steps that are wet and you can push there feet in to leave foot prints in the garden stone. than put there names in it my hubby is a big gardener ( and a great cook) so i think he will love them out in the flower garden.

I have already ordered my mother's day gift. I usually let DH pick out things for my birthday, anniversary, etc. but I knew what I wanted for mother's day. I ordered a mother's bracelet with Mayson and Shelby's names with their birthstones. It turned out gorgeous! I have it put up until mother's day.

Make an appt to have pics taken of the babies at a nice photographer's who sells photo bracelets. That's what we just did. The bracelet runs about $65.00 & holds 6 pictures. My bday is around mother's day too, so it's kind of a double present, I guess.

Digital photo frames are nice. I got one for my DH for his birthday and he loves it. He took it to work and since it's a digital frame, we can change the pictures as often as we like. They are on the expensive side, though.

Oh, the digital frame reminded me...a friend of mine had talked about giving her mom a digital picture keychain. It runs about $65 also.

    Love these ideas!
(for a laugh, i told my DH ten days ago taht there darn well better be a mother's day card in this house the MORNING of mother's day, meaning he'd already bought it in advance.....)

I love the idea of birthstone jewelry, although i can't wear bracelets personally.

For Father's Day I think i'm going to take some of teh best photos and make a small 'brag book' for him and maybe frame a special one of him and the girls (and one of me pregnant, so he remembers just how these girls GOT here!) for his office. the book he can carry w/him since he travels a lot for when he's not able to whip out his computer to show everyone.
Also is there something he would like to indulge in - does he play a sport or have a hobby?

    Hi,

I've asked for a full night's sleep -- I told my hubby, I didn't care how he does it (hiring a night nanny, or dealing with the kids himself) -- but I want one night to sleep a full 8 hours this year.

    Cheers,

    Teri

That is a great idea! I'd like to do something like that for my own mother for Mother's Day, she has some beautiful gardens that she loves to work in and that would be a great addition.

I got a kit to cast the boys' hands and feet, I think I will mount them on a wooden plaque that I've stained and add a little brass name plate with their names and birthday- I've also sent Micah's shoes off to be bronzed and mounted- his hands and feet are getting a little big to cast/mount now.

For Mother's Day? I would love some time at the day spa.
