I've been to one MOMs meeting in my area and didn't enjoy it. They had an 90-minute lecture on gardening, complete with someone who worked at a nursery and clearly wanted to sell us all plants and landscaping services. (Well, I left after 90 minutes; it went on longer.) They never mentioned children and seemed to just want to socialize and forget about the fact that they're moms. I understand the need to get out and have other interests, but I thought the whole point of the groups was to provide support to other MOMs? Maybe I'm misunderstanding the purpose of the organization.

But that was probably just my local group or possibly just the night I chose to go. I've heard other women rave about their MOMs groups. The only way to find out is to go. I wish you better luck than I had!!

I went to a couple before and after we had the girls - but it seems as though they are always scheduled during our nap time. I want to start taking the girls to "Toddler Time" but it is at 10:30 and the girls have not fully transitioned to 1 nap yet so it may not work out. IF it does I will let you know how it was (it's next Friday).

The ones that I went to before were interesting. They had members there who did not have infants (it was the meeting for people expecting twins and kids up to 1 year) to help out. They sometimes had a "speaker", a pediatrician who was expecting twins. It was nice to talk to other moms with twins the same age and to check out the other moms to see if they looked at tired as I did :D

I'm a member of my local multiples club and I really like it. They have a meeting once a month, do Mom's night out once a month, have age specific playgroups, do park outings, and other things as well. I have noticed most of the ones that go to the activities with kids are between 2-4, so mine are on the younger side, but we've always been welcome.

I am a member but don't participate much. I don't know the moms that well, and to be honest, the ones in my area have seemed, ummm well,
    "Up-ity".

I may try again soon though because it seems like such a great way to meet other twim moms. I don't want to cast them off just yet.

I am in the same area as you. I joined but never went to anything. Mainly b/c at the time my twins were to small to enjoy the park or the zoo. Plus they have them at times which is during our nap time and my twins still take naps. They seem nice though but you would have to check it out to see how it is. I was in the MOMS club with my older ds and I always felt out of place with the moms. You may want to try Yahoo they have groups too that are smaller and maybe more to your liking.

i'm not in your area but belong to one in massachusetts...it is the biggest one in the u.s. w/ over 500 members. i found it very helpful and i met a group of girls that i do weekly playgroups with...all of our twins are around the same age too..so it is nice. the meetings are once a month at night and include an hour of discussion (you are split up based on how old your twins are), then they usually have a guest speaker that is relevant to having twins...or they have a special thing, like next week ours is an ice cream social. they also host tag sales twice a year, plan outings twice a year, organize playgruops, have a hotline for numerouse topics, mentors, yahoo message boards, newsletter..ok, i could go on and on.

check http://www.nomotc.org/ maybe there are other chapters nearby.

    good luck!

I'm interested in seeing if anyone else will respond as I am moving to Portsmouth this coming week! I want to join a group as well and have considered the MOM's club but have heard thru the grapevine that it is hard to get a hold of people who are in charge... I am hoping to find some new little buddies for my boys (2yrs 3mos) and for myself as well LOL

There seems to be quite a few TS members from that area so maybe we should start up our own "unofficial" group :love0028: and meet up at parks etc during the week! I'll be settled in around the mid to end of October, so I'll do a shout out once we get computers up and running again... The packers come on Monday... YIKES!!

We LOVE our multiples group. It's a fantastic group with tons of resources and activities. I also belong to a local moms group, but don't really use it. It just doesn't compare.
