I started toilet training him when he told me he's ready (after 2-3 failed attempts because he was too afraid). This time around he actually asked me to take off his pamper and has refused to put one on since. He is excited to use the toilet and will not want to go back to a diaper. Having said that, he's terribly afraid of pooping in the toilet even though he wants to. He'll tell me right we don't have to be afraid? And he will insist on sitting there and trying, but he's so tense, it never works. And then he poops in his pants. I'm at a loss as to what to do here.

One of my girls had trouble with this too. She would pee in the potty, then minutes later poop in her underwear. I was amazed that she could separate the two that way. I do not have any great advice. We just kept talking to her about pooping in the potty about how it was better, cleaner, and easier. She really hates bad smells so I told her she would smell the poop less if it was in the potty. And I told her that the poop would go plop in the toilet. She thought the idea of it going plop was funny so she wanted to try it. The first time she had success, she yelled "Mommy, it went plop!" She was so excited and laughing because she thought it was funny. I think it just takes time, and encouragement before they are comfortable pooping in the potty.

Josh had this problem at first too. I could not understand what was so terrifying of pooping? My ped explained it as something coming out of their body scares them ore than pee? Anyways, just give it time and positive vibes and it will happen. Josh is almost completely trained for both pee and poo. Its been about 2 months since I said NO MORE DIAPERS for him anways. Zach alas is another story..... <_<

    GOOD LUCK

When we had this problem with John we gave him lots of things that would make him loose. Oatmeal cookies, juice, loads of veggies and fruit. It worked. :) Good luck!

We made it into a game. It sounds kind of gross, but I would ask them if they made snakes or meatballs. So, they couldn't wait to go and let me know what they did.
