I have a friend who's wife is 11 weeks pregnant with twins. She was sick in the beginning with morning sickness and started to feel better recently. Since Saturday, she has been very sick with morning sickness and her husband is asking if I have any advice for making it go away etc...

I didn't experience morning sickness with any of my children so I am no help in that department.

    Thanks, Tara

    besides prescription drugs?

Lemonade instead of water... finding one thing she can eat, even if its a taco bell burrito, or watermelon, or black licorice, or rice krispies treats, or jello. Whatever it is, find that one thing each day that doesn't send her running for the toilet...

I had horrible morning sickness. I tried to eat crackers before I got out of bed in the morning. It helped some. I pretty much just laid around all the time and waited for it to pass at about 15 weeks.

I completely agree with finding one thing you can eat - even if it's not the healthiest option. I am going through terrible neverending m/s right now and feel really hungry but nothing sounds good except for usually one very specific thing. It's crazy. I also did get an Rx for generic Zofran which has been a complete lifesaver for me since we had to travel for Thanksgiving. I was also told by my RE's nurse that you can take a half of a Unisom + 1/2 vitamin B6 in the AM and a whole one of each at night. I did this for a couple days and it DID work, but I was way too exhausted to chase around my 2.5 yr old DS.

There are motion sickness bracelets for about $10 at the pharmacy, they really helped me with the nausea. I didnt take them off till about 5 months. They are for sea sickness and motion sickness, thet put pressure on your wrists and surpress the nausea.

Here are some things to consider that worked for me (and that have worked for others):

    1) Eat something in the morning before even getting out of bed. For me, graham crackers and a huge glass of milk helped. Yes, I eventually threw it up on occasion but it got me started.
    2) Take the prenatal at night before going to bed instead of in the morning.
    3) Snack on little things all day instead of just eating meals.
    4) Try a combo of salty and sour; my trick was Lays potato chips and a glass of lemonade.
    5) Suck on hard candy.
    6) Have a COKE! In the afternoon, a regular caffeinated Coke helped curb the nausea.

I couldn't drink water, would make me sick. Drank gatoraid, figured maybe that would help keep me from getting dehydrated. I ate lots of dry toast and peanut butter toast, butter didn't go down well.

Unisom at night (not the gel caps, the plain pill). If you pair it with B6 it's the same as a drug they give for morning sickness in Canada. Can't remember the name...starts with a D I think. Anyway, my OB suggested the unisom and I could tell a huge difference the next day if I didn't take it.

Sea Bands. They are wrist bands that put pressure on a certain point of your wrist. I think they helped...a little.

    Lemons/lemonade
    crackers
    plain pasta
    soup
    peppermints
    ginger snaps

ZOFRAN!!!!!!!!!!!! $$$$ but WORTH IT (if you have insurance that will cover it!) I threw up for the last time on the O.R. table and that stuff at least gave me a life!!

Coffee, but I think it’s the caffeine… I had bad nausea for 11 weeks THEN I started with the uncontrollable vomiting… but I think this is the week it is going away :a_smil09: … as I’m starting to feel better… I wouldn’t say good… but better… as long as I have protein in me at all times…
I stumbled on it because of the headaches I was getting, my Dr recommended the 8 oz of caffeine to help and I notice that the days I had my yummy ½ decaf ½ reg coffee (with hot coco mix) that my nausea was bearable. If she’s trying everything, might as well
