I was looking all over TS and unless I missed it I didn't see a thread specifically for all the tips to help relieve morning sickness, all day sickness or nausea. Please help. I feel like crap. I'm only nauseous, but this is way worse than my twin pregnancy. I've tried to keep something in my belly at all times and that's only slightly working.

Please share any tips for relief you have tried or someone else has tried with great success. Medication included.

My favorite thing is Ginger anti-nauseous gum made by sea band. It helps me so much and it's all natural. I'm so sorry you are sick!

I meant to add that you can only order it online!

My morning sickness was aweful, and my ob told me to try Unisom. It's actually a sleep aid that you take once before bed and it worked wonders for me!! I was sick to my stomach all day before and couldn't hardly keep anything down, now I have no morning sickness.
I tried going off of it around 5 months but spent 3 days with horrible morning sickness after and tried taking half a pill and it worked too.
Talk to your ob they may also be able to prescribe something.
    Good luck!

I took Zofran and it was the only thing that gave me a life while pregnant and kept me out of the toilet bowl.

A few things that made life a little better (check the Health Issues forum as well!) was LITERALLY not lifting my head off the pillow before some food went in. (Crackers or breakfast bar or something)

The b6+unisom was just a joke for me, but works for some.

Eating only things that wouldn't be HORRIBLE coming back out.... (Yes, I am serious about this!) Smoothies and shakes and fruity stuff...

Lemon water (I preferred it really cold)

Flat Coke or just a soda

 I hope you find some relief!!!

I had horrible MS with Mikiah, worse than I had with my twins, the only thing that gave me relief was sour candy. Sour patch kids were in every drawer, cubbord, my purse and in the car. If I felt the bit sick I woul eat a few of those. I stuck to only eating things that wouldnt be so horrible to have come back up also. Lots of icecream shakes and sweet stuff. I hope you find something that works for you. The maternity store has prego pops that are supposed to work wonders, I never tried them because the sour patch kids worked for me.

I had it bad, I had to get IVs to rehydrate. I took zofram and used sea bands.

Hope you can find something that helps!

I had wretched morning sickness with the boys and lemonade really helped. Once the lemonade made my tummy feel less queasy I would eat something salty. Like chips or pretzels.

Anything with ginger in it is good. They have crystalized ginger that is kind of like candy, ginger snaps, ginger ale (the real stuff), ginger capsules, ginger tea. They also have these preggo hard candies that are supposed to help with nausea. You should talk to your ob also, they have lollipops that are supposed to help. Crackers are supposed to help. I was also told that if you eat a high protein diet would help. If I started the day with two eggs, toast, and coffee I usually felt better than if I only had cereal. Protein Bars, like Clif bars were great too. I found drinking a lot of water helped. I had it so bad with the twins not much helped. I had a lot of suggestions though. I hope you feel better . If I remember any other ones I will pass it along.

For me, protein (deli meat and eggs are the things that work best because the smells aren't too strong) is one of the things that helps most. In a pinch, when I'm out, I've even bought a sausage biscuit thing from McD's and threw away the bread. Even that greasy sausage helped... crazy, I know. And making sure I eat enough of it right before bed to keep my blood sugars right, helps with my mornings. I'm on the tail end of the m/s (knock on wood), but it's actually been evening sickness. As long as I don't wake up too hungry, my mornings are decent, but as the day goes on I'd get worse and worse. Also staying hydrated helps a ton, but drinking water makes me sloshy feeling and miserable. Drinking through a straw helps with that, for some reason. Sipping peppermint tea is also good, both for the water you get and the peppermint sometimes helps settle my stomach.

Zofran, Reglan, unisom and B-6. I was on all of them at the same time and still threw up everything I ate. But If I didnt take them I threw up even if I didnt eat. Lost 25lbs this time around 20 with the twins. I have still not gained back the 25 I lost yet and Im almost 32 weeks. Im still taking the Zofran and Reglan as well.

I did find that chewing gum helped some. But other then that I soent as much time as I could In bed sleeping. I keep telling myself 8 weeks or less and I dont have to throw up anymore..

    Good Luck its not fun

Unisom and b-6, as previously mentioned, helped me with my m/s. I didn't have any with the boys but did this time around until I was about 20 weeks.

Here are the things I've tried, none worked for me:
ginger, many different ginger products including but not limited to real ginger ale and ginger preggo pops
    sea bands
    crackers
keeping food in my stomach all the time
    Natutrapathic anti-nausea pills
Things that made me sleep. This worked for the sickness but is not a realistic option when you have a life to live. They just made me unable to function and I slept all the time.

I too tried high protein and it just wouldn't make a difference. I sued to throw up (at minimum) my first three breakfasts no matter what I ate. I agree with trying to make it things that aren't so bad coming back up. After about my 3rd breakfast, I could sometimes hold down a turkey sandwich.

The only thing that really worked for me was zofran. But that gave me HORRID migranes so I ended up in bed anyway. THere were days I pleaded with dh to just make it end now because I just couldn't take it anymore. I was truely miserable but looking back, it seems so long ago. It did make labor seem like a breeze though. I had m y first 2 kids with no drugs but after the misery of the first 4 months of pregnancy, it couldn't even compare.

I am so sorry you are suffering like that. I have much empathy! It is so miserable.

Preggie pops, they are a ginger candy (and they are really good, similar to life savers) you can get them at most maternity shops. Try peppermint candies too... anything to keep your mouth from getting that nasty taste. Caf. free Mint tea all day and camomile tea at night. Popcicles helped me. Get on a med. to control heartburn if you are getting it and there is a med for nausea but I think they only like to give it if you are puking so much you are at risk of dehydration. Also I take tylenol with a small caffine drink in the morning because I tend to get headaches that make me pukey.

ETA: Triscut crackers help me too. I have heard that it is the SALT not the cracker that calms the tummy so I tried a super salty cracker and it seemed to help. I also forgot to mention that I nearly ended up in the hospital about 2 wks ago because I was puking so much. No it is just the nausea and headaches... hang in there we are about through the "hard part!"

I know we were suppose to stay away from caffeine, but I also had bad headaches, so my Dr said try ½ decaf and half reg coffee… not only did it help the headaches (for the most part) but I noticed that my nausea wasn’t AS bad… I talked to my Dr about it and he said go for it… its not the first time I heard that working… so I did until it went away at 17 w

    Hope you feel better quick!!!

I drank half calf also until the smell made me sick LOL. But I wanted to add that if you are having any problems with constipation, coffee helps that too.

I have not read all the replies but I had such sickness, I used Zofran. It was a lifesaver. I could not even keep down water. I didn't want to medicate, but I have 4 kids to look after and it wasn't good to be dehydrated either. I used it with my twins as well.

OMG I just came on TS to post the SAME question!! I'm in the same boat as you are right now and it is sooo HARD. The most difficult part is having to take care of two 4 yr olds while feeling like this. I'm going to try some of the suggestions you got.......I hope we both feel better soon.

First of all, I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing "morning sickness;" however, it's not just the "morning," right!?! :p I was very nauseated throughout my pregnancy and tried everything, too. Unfortunately, B6, ginger, and sea bands did not work for me. I even tried accupressure. The only thing that worked was Zofran. I did have some headaches and some lingering nausea, but it was MUCH better. Frequent small meals also helped. I took snacks with me everywhere. I also found that the nausea increased when I was really tired. HTH!

Thanks girls!!! I appreciate all the information. My Dr. gave me a prescription for Diclectin. http://diclectin.com/ It looks like a Canadian thing. However one pill made me feel real drugged up. Help the nausea, but I felt real loopy. I'll definitely try some of your suggestions. I'll let you know if anything works. I haven't been on TS much because of this icky feeling.

Here in Australia they prescribe Maxolon (metoclopramide hydrochloride 10 mg) very safe for the baby and seemed to help but not get rid of it completely. oh and three times a day dose.

Also gatorade because it is pretty to puke up.

Suck on lemons but BEST BEST BEST is to smell lemon oil (usually small jar in health food stores) just open it in the store and you will know what I mean. great for purse or in your car.

    sips of coke

sprite diluted with soda water so it is less sugary

toddler foods like mac & cheese, anything anything Vanilla like pudding or custard or rice pudding, canned ravioli, canned kids spagetti,

I've heard watermelon juice ? never tried it.

snacks beside your bed and have one before rising for the day. (peanut butter & crackers etc.)

hot showers, high sugar juice can set you off.

the ginger or seabands did not work for me though.

Fruit. especially green apples. Pickled veggies or pickles. things in vinegar. (sour)

    V8 juice sometimes.

Peppermint tea (even just to smell it was soooooo nice)

Ditto this!! And now that I read that last post I totally realize I have been drinking lemons in my water and sucking on them afterwards, I thought it was just a weird craving but it is helping my nausea! WOW. And I ditto the hot showers/baths (that relax me oh so much but...) make me sick and so does sugary juice.
