I would be so happy with just one nap - anytime of the day!!
my sweet little girls who are just 6 weeks old WILL NOT SLEEP!!
they have decided to set a new worlds record!!!
when they finally do close their eyes it is for 10 minutes here and there!! that is why I am on line instead of napping when they nap because as soon as I lay down they are UP!! they will sleep
sometimes in their swings - is that bad to keep the swing going for an hour or so just to get a few minutes of rest myself!!???

Mine sleep in their swings during the day all the time, I just wouldn't make a habit of it past 2-3 months, you want them to learn to sleep in their own space eventually. You need your rest too.

Oh gosh, at that age mine were all over the place with naps... it took a good 2 months to get them on a regular schedule...

    hang in there! [IMG]

I am a few weeks behind you. Some days are good and some days are bad. It seems like if one is sleeping the other is awake and needs attention. It is like having one baby that stays awake 24 hours a day. I don't know where you live, but because I am in South Florida I can take them for a walk during the day. This seems to help - getting some fresh air. If you can't go outside because it is cold, try putting them in the stroller and moving it around the house. I would try anything. Good luck!!!! Let us know how it goes.

mine definately slept in their swings at that age and I often kept it swinging. I dont know if that is good or bad. Put it on the lowest speed.

Mine slept in their swings all the time until they were about 3.5 - 4 months old. It was the only way we could get any sleep. It is sheer survival at this point. Do what works.

Me too, except that we didn't have a schedule until 4.5 months.

Just hang in there, it will get better soon, I promise!

If you can, get a copy of "The Secrets of the Baby Whisperer". It does work, even with twins co-sleeping. We don't have it down perfect, but my little guys nap 3 times in the day and sleep through the night. We were lucky, because they came home on a 3 hour NICU schedule, but the book was fantastic and does work.

Egad!!!!!!!!!!!!!I had to look twice and then again to make sure it wasnt my daughter posting this. Her girls are 1 week younger than yours and she swears that sleep is no longer a word. Your girls sound just like hers. And from pp it must be something all babies go thru. I dont remember it but then again my were singletons.

My kids LIVED in their swings the first three months of life. And when we transitioned to cribs for naps, we had no problems. Trust me, my kids are great nappers/sleepers, and the fact that they slept in the swing for the first few months had no impact on us later on down the road!!!

Mine nap in their swings often - I figure hey, they're getting a nap in and I'm getting either naptime, cleaning time, or laying-around time in as well. Plus the swings usually help them get to sleep at night. Whatever works!!!

At 6 weeks mine started napping in their swings and it was heaven. I was successful at moving them to their cribs at 3.5 months by moving the swings to their room to get them used to the new environment. Now, my boys sleep best in their own cribs.

At this age you should do anything they want to get them sleeping. Swings are great and you can definitely break the habit if you work at it before 4-5 months.

I say let them sleep where they will sleep.......everyone needs their rest. My babies would sleep in their bouncers and swings until about 4 months old. I had no trouble transitioning them to naping in their cribs.

My problem is the opposite I think mine are sleeping tooo much. They have the odd day where they never seem to sleep but the majority of the time it is like they never want to stay awake. It always makes me wonder what I am doing wrong. They wake to eat and than they go back to sleep until they want to snack again in an hour or two. Unless I have taken them out during the day which than they will be awake for hours on end and there seems to be no rest in site for anyone.
