Okay, we got my boys to drink from sippys, but they absolutely refuse to hold them! We have to stand there holding for them while they leisurely take sips and breaks. It takes way longer than bottles, which leads me to take the easy way out and stick to bottles most days.

I should say that they never held their own bottles either. How do you get them to do it?? Boy would that make life easier!!

My kids started out this way, but after a while changed to hold them themselves. They will still throw them on the floor when they are done, but at least most of the drink is self fed! I'd say it took about 3 weeks for them to totally make the change.

maybe if you swicht to sippys with handles.. or if you are using those already, try the ones without.

When mine first started taking a sippy we were using the Nuby ones and they wouldn't hold them either. And like you said, it was easier to hold them for them and I just got used to it and found I was just holding it for them and not letting them try. We switched sippy cups to the playtex with 2 handles and I showed them how to do it and let them try. It took a little bit of time, but they got the hang of it and my life has been so much easier now.

I'm not sure how old your boys are, but I wouldn't go back to bottles, just stick with the sippy, they will eventually get it. Maybe if you stop holding it for them they will try it for themselves.

They'll get to the point where they want to do it on their own eventually.

My solution would just be to not hold it. Just put the sippy on the tray when you serve the meal. I tend to be kinda "tough love" in those kinds of situations and believe me, they'll figure it out quickly enough!

Our girls were never interested in holding their own bottles, but they grabbed on to the sippy cups very easily. We started with the kind that have handles and then switched to the straw sippies without handles. They were able to get more out of the straw cups and they like them a lot better.
