If one of your twins is sick, do you keep both at home? What does your daycare require?

If you do a "drop in" type daycare, do you still pay for vacation/holiday/sick days? There seems to be confusion btwn "drop in" and "part time".

If you are part time, say MWF and there is a holiday on a Tues or thurs (like thxgiving for example), do you have to pay for that? (which would be more than the usual wkly rate)

If you get a twin/sibling discount, how much?

    thanks!
searching for daycare sucks. especially here in bay area where everything is so $$$$$$.

i'm curious - how much is it in the bay area? in northern NJ it seems to be about $1000/month for full-time.

My boys go to preschool for three half-days each week (MWF 9:00-1:00). If one kid is sick, I am welcome to bring the healthy one in but that means dragging the sick one in there with me for drop-off and pick-up. So, I have almost always kept both home if one is sick. Fortunately, they don't get sick all that often and when they do, it's at the same time.

My kids are officially part-time. The school (which is also a daycare for the younger kids) does not offer drop-in care. I was under the impression that for drop-in, you only pay for the hours that they are there which wouldn't include holidays or sick days. We are MWF and I don't have to pay extra for holidays that fall on Tuesdays or Thursdays. In fact, if they ever asked me to do that, I would leave because it's a ridiculous request. There are other kids that fill the Tues./Thurs. time slots (we never get to meet them) so the income for those days is covered.

Our sibling discount is 10% off the second kid.

Good luck with your daycare search! I know it's very difficult if the kids are less than 2 years old. Once they turn 3, you options will open up a lot.

It is of course your choice but when I'm asked I always say send the healthy one if you are up to getting them in. They get a whole different experience at day care alone. Same with picking up if one gets sick at day care.

At our centre if you are part time you pay for the days you are registered for reguardless if its a holiday or if you are sick. If you are registered for the day that Thanksgiving falls on (its a Monday in Canada) then you pay for that day, if its not your day, you don't pay. Full time pays for the full week if there is a statutory holiday (Labour Day, Canada Day) in the week.

Our organization give 10% for the second child and 25% for the third.

Here is a page with our polices on it http://ymcaofniagara.org/kids/registration.html
