Hi. I am trying to change from using Playetx drop ins to Avent bottles. The girls are 4.5 months now and the playtex bottles just don't hold enough for a full feeding. I have been trying to sneak in the Avent bottles at least once a day, but the girls scream and scream. I am also using the Avent bottles with the variable nipple speed so speed is not a problem. I have tried slow, medium, and fast. You would think I was pouring poison down thier throats. I have to give up and pour it into a playtex bottle. How do you change bottles?

Also I would like to get the girls used to room temp and cold formula, but my little princesses actually gag if it's not the perfect warm temp. How do you do it?

    Thanks for your advice.

We never had luck with the avents. The nipples were the problem actually. The girls just didn't like the shape of them or something. So I guess I don't have any advice, we ended up just switching to dr. browns.

We didn't have any luck with the Avent bottles either. Between the shape of the nipple and that they leaked all over us, we tossed then and went back to the playtex drop ins. Sorry I don't have any ideas for you.

I used Avent bottles and still do as sippy's. I used the temp. water I wanted it to be when I made the bottles. Almost hot water was our temperature!

Keep trying and see what happens!! OR have another drop in ready to go at a slightly warmer temp to start and see if you can pop it in.... Good luck!!

Are the Avent nipples similar in shape to the Playtex? We never used the Playtex, so I don't know what they look like. If they're totally different, maybe you could just find another brand that's closer to what they're used to. Don't throw away your Avents, though. Mine refused them for the longest time....then one day suddenly they were ok with them! You never know.

    Hi there-
we have always used the playtex drop-ins and love them- the boys are 7 months old now- you will find that they won't take a full bottle when they start getting more solids...
Might not be a big deal to stay with them- My guys are about 18 pounds each and take 4 or 5 bottles a day with 7-8 oz. in 3 of them and take about 5 oz. of the other 1 or 2 bottles. They only went over 8 oz. a few times- when that happend... normally only one would and he'd just finish his brother's bottle!!
As for the temperature... we only warmed theirs for the first 2 months. After that they took it right from the fridge or the cooler with an ice pack at night (bedrooms are upstairs). We live in California, so not too cold- but, sometimes on chilly mornings I'll warm up their first morning bottles or dinner bottles. They'll take em either way. I would think if you offer their midday bottles colder a little at a time you might have a better response- just a thought...
    good luck!
