Okay, so after using the great Google tool, I'm a little concerned that we might not have been given the right info at our 19 week ultrasound...

Is it possible to have mono/di twins, and boy/girl?

The ultrasound tech said that she only saw one placenta...which scared me just a little...If they're boy/girl, they should have separate placentas, shouldn't they?

Grrrr...anyone else have experience or know more than me? Lol.

No! If they are in fact b/g then they have to have separate placentas, but the two placentas could have fused to look like one. At our 22 w u/s the tech couldn't tell if it was one or two, we had to wait for the pathology report of the placenta after the birth. There was in fact two fused.

My boy girl twins did the same thing. Someone here explained to me that the placentas can fuze together.

Ohhhhh, that makes a lot of sense! I had heard about the placenta-fusing thing. I was just so excited that we were having one of each, I'm crossing my fingers that we still are.

    Thanks ladies!

She just misspoke. There are two placentas but they have grown close enough together to look like one. There is no worry about TTTS with boy/girl twins.

Yeah, this is the same tech that says "Oh, it has nothing to do with the placenta, they have two sacs, so they're fraternal." I guess this is a "Ask the doc what he sees" kind of question too. Thanks!

She needs to stick to the rule that u/s techs aren't supposed to tell you what they see. Sounds like the doctor needs to re-interpret all of that for you. We are having mono/di girls and monochorionic twins (sharing of a placenta) are genetically identical. It's one egg that splits. You either get two pee-pees or two va-jay-jays. Not one of each! I'd bet you have fused placentas.

Good luck figuring that one out!

It's also possible she got the sex wrong - your girl could just be a shy boy who didn't want to show all his cards at once

my b/g frats had "one" placenta...it fused together and on the u/s you could actually see where they fused!
