I know it is early for a lot of people, but I really like to get all my shopping done by December 1st so I can relax & enjoy the holidays. I have tons of ideas for things Lila would like, but I have no ideas for Luke. I am trying to stay away from anything video game related (he spends more time than I would really like looking at a screen, we are trying to cut back). He is not really into Lego, although I keep encouraging him & hoping he will start using it more. Anyone have any ideas for this year or have any suggestions for things your boys loved at age 5?

I think we are going to an assortment of Beyblades, card & board games and books. I may do one video game (DS) each. We usually do one big present, and several smaller ones so it's not a huge deal. I don't know what we are going to do for their big present this year, though. I should probably start thinking about it!

Well it's video game related, but not on a screen. We're getting Timothy the starter pack for Knex Mario Kart track. It's a build it yourself racetrack with all the different things from Mario Kart. You also have to build the carts. There are quite a few add-on packs and vehicles you can get.

We're also getting Timothy his own cool looking Wii remote.

He love Where's Waldo? and I Spy type of books. He's also into World Record books.

I'm getting him some new, different colored soccer socks. I was going to get him a new soccer ball also, but we needed the next size for the fall league so I had to go ahead and get that.

At 5 (and still now at 7), Lennon loves many of the Imaginext toys (especially the Toy Story set and the Batman Cave and Joker Castle) and he has also loved and continues to love many of the Playmobile sets. Spygear and Spynet stuff was and continues to be a favorite of his also.

Man our list sounds like: Legos, more expensive Legos, and even more Legos. That said, my 5yo has 7yo brothers to play Legos with him. He also enjoys some of the Playmobil kits, especially the ambulance and fire truck.

This was my suggestion too. My guys love the Imaginext stuff (even at 7) !

Nerf Guns! My son still plays with his as do some of the older (10year old) neighbor boys. They will play war together using their imaginations about how to hide and get the other team, or by himself he will make targets out of all kinds of stuff (his hockey net has cardboard targets hanging off it right now).

Thanks ladies, you were a huge help as always! I ended up ordering him a set of the Mario Kart Knex, 2 nerf guns (so he can play with someone), and a set of straws & connectors (the only thing he asked for). Now, if I can just figure out my 14 year old son....
