Well so far my dr nor ultrasound tech have been able to find a membrane seperating the 2 babies so they are sending me to a peri hopefully within the next 2 weeks they said. Is this normal to not be able to see one this early? I dont want to worry to much about it but if there isnt really a membrane what can i do to take precaution?

Its not uncommon for them to not be able to find the membrane at this point. It was hard for them to see my membrane even at 24 weeks. For momo twins they usually have hosiptal monitoring towards the end and more u/s thru out the pregnancy.

We didn't find our membrane until 16 weeks - and we looked at 8 and 12 weeks. Every time, the membrane is hard to find, since with mo/di twins the membrane is so thin!

It's a pretty small percentage of id twins that are mo/mo, so the odds are on your side that they'll find it!

we didnt find the membrane until we went to go and see the Peri at the 19 week appt... but they found it and its very very thin, like a strand of hair... but my doc had me all stressing out about not finding one and then when they found it, a heavy load was taken off my shoulders. good luck! Im sure they will find one in a few more weeks when you go for your Level 2 ultrasound.

My ob could not find the separating membrane either so I went to a peri who was able to find it (my ob still can't find it- they only ever see on the peri's u/s machine.) You definitely have the odds in your favor- momo twins are pretty rare. Good luck!

You are still early - they could still find one. My twin pregancy was Mo-mo confirmed at 24 weeks or so. I didn't find out twins till about 22 weeks. While the diagnosis of mo-mo is scary and high risk, they outcome can still be good.

If you truely are mo-mo you can expect to go inpatient between 24-28 weeks. We chose 26 weeks because that is when we felt viability was the best. You will normally deliver at 32 weeks. We had a scheduled c-section at 32 weeks. My girls were small and born 2 months early but are now 16 months old and completely healthy and the light of my life.

If you would like more information about mo-mo twins, please email me. I would be glad to help

They didn't find the seperate membranes until I was 12 weeks. The best way to describe mine is, it looks like two pieces of ribbon in the wind, it's very difficult to see some times.

There is a support site for this, http://monoamniotic.org/. They are very helpful, I was on there for awhile two because it was believed that I had Momo twins.
