mommy's skin question

since having the LO's i've had great skin. i'm also BFing. will this acne free skin last or am i doomed to revert back?

 

I've had mild to moderate acne at times before pregnancy my entire life. It usually flared up as I was approaching my menstral cycle. My skin remained pretty clear with a pimple here or there throughout pregnancy and it was great! I was expecting acne problems after delivery with the hormone fluctuation but it stayed clear for the better part of 9 months. I'm a breastfeeding mama too and I think the delay of my cycle helped my skin problems. I wish it lasted forever! Last month, my cycle returned and my skin had a major flare up. Worse than I've seen in a long time.

Hopefully, this won't happen to you. Just wanted to share my experience.

It might last, but most likely it will revert back to normal after the pregnancy/breastfeeding hormones disappear. Enjoy it while it lasts!

 

Um...mine didn't last. Pregnancy is the only time that my skin has been sooooo clear. Within about 2 months of stopping bfing and getting my cycles back, the acne returned.

 

I've struggled with acne my entire adult life and the only time it went away wasy while BFing. I ovulated within a week of weaning and my face broke out accordingly. Ugh. At least now I know my acne is hormonal and I'm going to go on BCP (despite not needing them for pregnancy prevention) to see if that helps.

 

i didn't breastfeed but my skin stayed clear for about a month after giving birth. i'm back on acne medicine because my acne came back.

some people say that breastfeeding protects the skin but i think it's more of an individual thing.

My skin was always very clear during pregnancy. Now, not so much!
