"Mommy's Helper"

So I've set up a 16 year old girl to come over once or twice a week and help me. She'll basically be entertaining my 2 year old while I care for the twins, or she'll have all 3 outside while I clean house. She's never babysat before, but has cared for kids at the church child care, and VBS.. We've never had a babysitter that we've actually paid so I have no idea what to pay her.

Also what do you pay for babysitters? I have a meeting with a woman to have her babysit for me sometimes and again I'm not sure what to pay her!

We pay our regular babysitter 10 an hour. She is a young adult who is also a family friend.
I would think you can pay a 16 year old with no experience less than 10 per hour. I'm sure someone else will have an idea.

 

Would you pay $10 an hour for all 3 kids, to someone who has experience and watches them while I go run errands, or for date night?

So if you do 10 an hour, would $7 an hour be ok for the 16 year old, especially since I'll be here while she's here?

Yes, I would pay 10 an hour to watch 3 children by someone who is experienced. I think you could pay 7 for a teenage mother's helper.

I hired my friend to work for us shortly after the twins were born. I asked around and was told a mother's helper in our area was 8-10 an hour. I decided to pay her 10 because I was hoping to eventually leave her alone with the kids. Now she babysits for us and I go out to run errands, go to the Dr. etc. She (tries) to pick up after the kids and she does light kitchen cleaning if the kids aren't driving her nuts.
