it's after midnight and i'm wide awake and energetic. i have a bad cold and desperately need the sleep. i'm on sleep meds bcuz of 2 chronic illnesses, so i'm admittedly hooked and yet still not sleeping. prescription meds are a slippery slope my friends.

all will be fine if girls are well enough to go to daycare tomorrow (and i can rest), but if their colds take a turn for the worse and can't go, tomorrow is gonna suck! *fingers crossed* for healthy toddlers.

Anyone else so tired that they can't actually sleep? Make sense to anyone?

PS I'm still ridiculously stressed about DH's job AND preschool. Yikes, I need to calm down and SLEEP. Instead here I am rambling....................................

I am definitely in the same boat!! I find that I have been drinking wine to make me sleepy....well, that's not working anymore either....I have a doctor's appt. on the 31st and I am going to bring it up then....I just don't want to have to take sleeping pills.....

I think I am going to try to start getting on our eliptical machine every day....maybe that will help me release some of this pent up energy/stress and will make me tired??????

I completely understand you! And you're right, sleeping meds are a VERY slippery slope. I just weaned myself off Ambien last week and it was horrible.
This does just suck and I hope we'll get through this soon! It's amazing how when we get little sleep it affects everything in life.

Um...I still have my Vicodin from the c-section. When I have a terrible migraine that my regular meds can't tackle I'll pop one of those and call it a night...it makes my head feel like an anvil after about 20 minutes and has conveniently worn off by morning.

I get manic episodes too where I can't slow down. I just try to channel it into organizing the house, defrosting the freezer, etc. ;)

I was awake for a good while last night worried about Melissa's current bout of constipation. I was truly imagining the amount of food she's eaten and the size of the thing building inside of her...needless to say she had prunes with her breakfast this AM. And I'll be calling the doctor to see if he thinks we need a prescription. Poor thing. She'd been better since PTing...

    but I digress...

Yes. Total mommy insomnia here. Still. And often sadly it's like I'm just lying there imagining that she's going to wake up any minute. And often she does. Which validates my insomnia.

I'm up many nights with anxiety. I agree that exercise is the one thing that really helps. It's hard to drag myself out the door when I'm so exhausted, but not only does it give me a bit of a boost during the day, it definitely helps me sleep that night. Any way you can get out and exercise? Even just walking with the kids in a stroller?

Yep! I was online this morning at 4am b/c I couldn't sleep. I always wake up in the middle of the night when I'm stressing over something.....never fails.

I've had some of this in the past. Three things that have helped me. 1.going to bed earlier. 2.taking a good amount of vitamins like a good multi., etc. 3.I also have prayed something repetitive and that helps me fall asleep. I agree that exercise is a good option. Maybe your prescriptions or dosages are not right. Some things I've taken actually make insomnia worse. My 2 cents...

    Big :hug99: !!!

I can relate too. I chalk mine up to being pregnant again. It helps me to sleep somewhere else for awhile, like our couch. Then, when I wake, I will go back in our bedroom. When i was pregnant with the twins, I would sleep on the floor for some reason. Probably a mental thing, but I would at least sleep.
