So i have a BIG issue, personnaly, right now. I have switched my BC to Seasonale (about 10 wks ago) and have been packing on weight ever since, i am also on Lexapro, so i am not sure which to blame right now.
I have gained 14 Lbs in the 10 wks i have been on the new BC pill. i have changed my diet to now include white bread, i actually eat the WW breads, and have been drinking a ton of water, cut soda completely. So i was wondering if anyone else had experienced this with a medication and if so what do i do?? i am calling my family dr today to ask him, but also wanted some "real" advice from some of you.

    HELP PLEASE :(

I may not be of much help, but I will give you my story. I gained 75 lbs during my pgcy. I only lost 40 lbs, and I started taking birth control as well. Over the next three years, I dieted and exercised like crazy. I cut out all the pasta, bread, cereal, soda.........all the stuff I love to eat. The scale never budged. I remember crying over the fact that I was so hungry and still all my clothes were tight. I was so miserable. Last October, I stopped taking birth control pill only because I hated how moody they were making me. Anyways, I still stuck to my diet and exercised. Since October, I have dropped 25 lbs. I am not using any birth control right now, and I know that isn't real smart of me............but heck, those things are vicious. I need to find another method. I just wanted to chime in and tell you my story. I know what you are feeling.

I've been on Seasonale for 3 years and have not had any weight gain. You probably want to talk to your dr.

There isn't a bc pill out there that doesn't make me gain weight. Believe me, I've tried many of them! It bothers me so much that I don't take the pill anymore. We have resorted to condoms, which I hate as well. Ugh. I can't wait until we decide if we're done or not & we can have something permanent done to one of us ;).
    Good luck,

I have an alternative. It's called the Creighton Model FertilityCare. DH and I have been married for 9 yrs this June and have used it with 100% effectiveness! We started trying for children 4 years after we got married. No physical side effects!! And I love that it helps either avoid or achieve pregnancy. I've a few friends that gave gained weight after starting BC--not fun. GL and I hope you find something that works for you and you are comfortable using.

I have had the same horrid experience with BC. I gained 80lbs during my pregnancy, buy my 6 wk appointment I had lost 60lbs. I figured I would loose the extra 20 with no problem. The only thing was that at my 6 wk appointment my OB also gave me bcp. I never lost the 20lbs. No matter what I did ( i even cut my calorie intake to about 800 cal. per day ) I couldn't get the scale to budge. So after a year and a half of struggling I quite taking them to see if it would make a difference. I lost 30lbs within the next 3 months. I am convinced that bcp are poison for my metabolism. I hate em.

I was on BC for 1 year about 9 yrs ago and gained 60+ lbs that year. Personally, I think the hormones in them can really screw a person up.
