Would you hire a very responsible, caring mom to be your part time nanny if she was going to bring her 3 month old son with her? She says she feels fully capable of taking care of 3 babies, but will she really be capable? What do you think?

It would depend on the person. My SIL was had my neice when she was 18, and took my neice with her to her job as a nanny. It worked out very well for her.

BTW, that neice is going to college in the fall, and got into 4 of the 4 colleges that she has heard from--with scholarships!

If you feel comfortable with it, it will be fine. Go with your GUT instinct. Do you have other options? My nanny is pregnant and will be bringing her infant when she is born in the fall.

I would as long as she seemed to be a good mom.

I wouldn't. I think her own child would take time away from looking after yours. It depends how much you pay her, if it's normal nanny rates I would go with someone else unless you really love her. Frankly I find even with me and my nanny we barely have enough time to do everything. Don't ask me why.

It is normal nanny rates, so I guess it really doesn't seem fair to have to share with her son. When I started looking for a nanny, it was when I was pregnant with a 3rd baby and was expecting to need help with 3 babies. If I can't do it, I don't know how another person could.

Anyways, I heard some info through the grapevine about this particular person. My friend didn't have the best opinion of her. She said she didn't think this person was capable of taking care of more than her own child. This is one person's opinion, but I really trust her opinion.

So, my search will continue. Maybe I'll find a nice college student!

You could try an ad in Craigs list and interview the right candidates. Give them a two week trial and eventually (if not sooner) you will find a great nanny. Good luck.

I found a part-time nanny for my girls on Craigslist a few months ago. She is my age (28) and has a 7 month old little girl who comes with her while she watches my two girls. I love her, and I think she does great with the three kids. She lowered her rates from $12/hour to $10/hour since she was bringing her little girl.
