I've just (reluctantly) joined our local Parents of Multiples club. Their big fall sale is upcoming, and I want to be able to go before the general public. Selfish, I know. However, I decided that if I'm going to do this, I'm going to do it well. So, the group is floundering with little to no leadership. They sent me invitations to their get togethers over the last few months, but nothing that intrigued me with 2 babies.

What do your MoM groups do and how do you include those with small babies?

My local MOMs group is aimed toward working moms. The moms meeting during the week for lunch without their kids and have playgroups on the weekends. I never attend any of their stuff b/c I usually can't get someone to watch my girls during the week at lunch time, and I don't want to spend my weekends at play group, I'd rather go during the week.

So I found a local regular stay-at-home moms group to join instead.

I just joined ours...they have a meeting once a month with no kids, and then playdates at other times. They also have a once a month night out - movie, manicures, comedy club, etc. (I have not gone to these...not really for me right now, I guess)

In October we are going to a farm for hayrides, lunch, pumpking picking and a corn maze....not really sure what else they are doing since I just joined. They usually try to find things that the whole family can enjoy and offer it at a low price...

We've got monthly "New moms" meetings with experienced members of the club who lead it. This is for women who are pregnant w/ twins, or new moms w/ twins up to age 1. We also have monthly Moms Nights, which alternate in (someone's home) and out. There is also a Dad's night out, and seasonal gatherings like a Summer bbq, easter egg hunt, halloween costume party... They also put together parenting seminars, produce a monthly newsletter and I'm hoping to spearhead a babysitting co-op. Hope this helps! Oh, and from the new moms meetings, a few of us have put together a playgroup of same(ish) aged kids. That's been fun.

We try to cater to both our working and non working moms in our group. We have our regular monthly meeting which features "theme nights" or speakers. We have a monthly Cope meeting, which is really just a get together (in the evening) at a group members house where you chat, eat, drink and get some general support for issues you might be going through. These nights are very informal and have been very successful. We try to organize playdates at playgrounds (we had a playgroup, but not a lot of attendance at it) either during the week or on the weekends. We also try to organize some outings for families (apple picking, pumpkin picking) and also some Moms nights out. We've also tried to do some one on one support for the new moms, like the other co-president and I brought lunch to a mom with a 4 year old and 12 week old twinkies. Our kids played with her older daughter, we helped feed the babies, and she was able to sit back for a little while and not have to worry about any of her kids. We've also been trying to organize a "Meals for Moms" where some of us bring some freezer meals for the new moms to make dinner prep that much easier.

I am involved in MOPS--Mother's of Preschoolers. You can join if you have children age 0-5 yrs. I LOVE my group. We meet every 1st and 3rd friday of the Months for our MOPS meeting from 9:30am-12:00pm. There is free childcare available. At our meeting we have discussion and always make a a neat n fun craft! We also eat breakfast...we take turns bringing this. There is only about 15 women in my group. Once a Month we get together for a MOMMY AND ME outting and once a month is a MOMS NIGHT OUT event.

our local group is awesome! 30-50 women (there are over 100 members) meet monthly for an evening meeting which is socializing and also a theme speaker etc. They have a special meeting during our main meeting for the 'prospective' members who haven't joined yet and are pregnant, or new moms to help them with preparation etc. they also organize a MoM's night out monthly and then we also have playdates throughout the month. The evening stuff is usually for just MoM... its nice for me to have a night out and leave the babies at home.

one thing that ours did last year was to move to www.meetup.com for our members to connect online... its pretty cool, we are able to have a calendar, and folders for posting etc. I know that meetup.com charges, but am not sure how much, it might not be worth it for your club - depends on how many etc.

our club is pretty active, and we do outreach to local MoMs in need with donations etc. There's a monthly newsletter and 2 to 3 sales to the public per year. there are also quarterly family parties around the holidays (halloween, Christmas, Easter egg hunt etc).

I really enjoy our group even though I don't participate in every event.
