You mean moles on your belly area? I am not sure at all if you should wait or not, I'd definately call your OB or dermatologist, if you have one, and let them know your concerns and see what they say. :good:

I would ask your dermatologist. If he/she thinks they need to come off, it can safely be done during pregnancy. (At least, I had one removed from my nipple while I was pg. The derm said much better to take it off while I was pg than while I was trying to nurse!) I would imagine that moles could grow due to hormones (since hormones can do so many other bizarre things), but I have no idea whether it's considered dangerous.

I had new moles pop up with each singleton pregnancy--have given up looking for any yet this time. My belly ones stretch as the belly does, but I've never had any grow that concerned me--if you are concerned, ask your dr. If he dismisses you without looking or asking further ??s, ask a different dr. or pursue it. BUT--just so you know, it is usualy and normal for spots or moles to appear with the raging hormones. Mine have never been an abnormal shape or changed dramatically, just a "beauty" concern so I have never had any removed.

I've had new moles pop up each pregnancy. After the girlies, I went in and had one odd looking one removed, and it was fine. I have a really weird looking one that has me concerned now. It's one I had before being pregnant, but now it's misshapen and more than 1 color. So I have an appt w/ the dermatologist in a few weeks. I think it's pretty normal to have moles be affected by hormones, but still a good idea to keep an eye on them.

Another fine product of hormones. I've read about this more than once. Not only can it change the characteristics of existing moles/birthmarks, you can get new ones, too. Skin tags (or is it "flags"...don't remember) can also appear out of nowhere.

I got a new one while pregnant w/ DS under one breast...it was flat like a biggish freckle. With this pregnancy, it's now slightly raised. Something I'll have looked at later, but I'm not overly worried at this point. Just another battle scar, I guess. :pardon:

Oh, I am glad I am not the only one. I have spots on my belly and skin tags around my chest.

Worst of all, I got a hemangioma on my back that oozed blood if it got irritated. It was HORRIBLE. It came off a couple weeks after DD was born.

I did go to a derm about my belly spots last time, and all she cared about was getting a biopsy on the cafe au lait spots that I have always had. She wanted to test for neurofibramatosis..... which was ruled out 20+ years ago.

I call them small skin tags and yes, I have had them pop up all over my neck. I will have them taken off after the babies are born. Lovely hormones!

I have a mole/skin tag on my top lip that I swore last year looked like a tick with sprawling legs. My doctor swore they would disappear after I deliver. However, the looks I got-my dad thought I had crumbs on my face, the Army colonel I work for thought I had gotten my top lip pierced, and one coworker thought I had a booger on my face.. It was embarassing, because I had to talk to people everyday. Now since then, after picking at it--which made it bleed and at that time, you'd think it got bigger, washing around it, keeping the skin exfoliated around the area, and doing every other unhealthy thing I probably shouldnt have done, it has shrunk and you can barely tell it exists. It was annoying, we laugh about it now. Back THEN, that freaking Mole/skin tag was the only pregnancy sympton I had.

Oh, lets not forget when it got really huge, like one hole with 4 different limbs coming out of it and more limbs coming out of that--I was about to let DH experiment with freezing it off with the air duster and a qtip stuck on the end--found it on the internet. And we were going to tie a string around it to cut off the blood supply and wait for it to fall off..We had WAYYY too much time on our hands. I chickened out of the air duster thing. The string, I couldnt stop laughing and neither could he when he was trying to get the string on, you had to walk around with the string on for 3-4 days, he's laughing about it now that Im recalling the memories.

After all of the agony and moments, I did have an appt to get it removed. I missed it bc of a previous peri appt and it ended up taking care of itself. So, DONT DO what I did. Talk to your DOC then find a good dermatologist or cosmetic surgeon that will remove it. Good Luck

Mine did during my twin pregnancy. My peri had me make an appt with the dermatologist for after delivery and I got a couple removed at that time.

Could be pregnancy but please have them checked. Changing moles could be bad news as well. I have many, my brother had a melanoma at age 27, he's very dark, dark skin and tans easily ... it can't hurt to have it checked out, better safe than sorry. I'm having them checked about once a year as well.

I have had a couple seem to grow too! I was just reading yesterday in a Parent's magazine and they had a whole article on skin cancer. Most of the women in the article who were later diagnosed with cancer said they noticed their moles change durring pregnancy but the doctor just told them it was due to hormonal changes. My doctor said the same thing, but I plan on having a dermatologist check them out as soon as I deliver.
p.s. We are both due with boys on the exact same day!

Read exactly the same thing ... and knowing from my own brother who is not the typical sunbathing / tanning salon / light-fair skinned guy I strongly advised getting it checked by a dermatologist (they're the experts).

I would go to a dermatologist now ... but I saw you're already 34 weeks so I guess you could wait until after that. The only question is ... how long before you actually come around to do it if you have newborn twins? Maybe better to go now when you still have time?
