I've been debating if the terrible 2's have struck us a year early, but have decided to blame it on one year molars. The boys have been miserable lately and the drool is worse than the first tooth! They are biting everything (coffee table/couch/my shoulder!) seeking relief. I bought the teethifer and it sometimes helps, but only for a few mins. Motrin and Tylenol haven't brought much relief. Do you guys have any other suggestions? Both boys did fine with all their other teeth, but this is a whole different ball game!

There is no other way to describe molars but down right nasty. In our experience you just hang on tight and try to make it through. By the way, two year molars just as bad. Sometimes popsicles or teethers that you can freeze will help take the edge off. I know my pedi strongly discouraged orajel, but told us about Hylands teething tablets (didn't work much for molars, though). Good luck to you and I hope you get some more helpful hints!!

I'm sorry the Motrin isn't helping; that's what worked for us. Or a motrin/teething tablet combo. I second the popsicle idea.....or my cousin used to just freeze a wet washcloth. I don't think the teething rings are much help for molars; they can't really get in the back w/o gagging. Anything cold will probably help; maybe a small frozen fruit like blueberries?

we are right there with you! I have one with molars coming in who is an absolute bear and I am so scared that she will get through it and then wham-o her sister will be where we are right now with Hannah!

I am losing my mind. She won't sleep ... she wakes her sis at night and at naps (her sis is the one I posted earlier about who screams to GO to sleep every night so when she is finally asleep ... the LAST thing I need is for someone to wake her). I am thinking of splitting them up for night but I really don't want to do that. Everything makes her lose control and throw tantrums, she is whiney and clingy ... AHHHH!

Luckily, Motrin seems to work pretty well and last night I just alternated Motrin and Tylenol every 4 hours. Popsicles seem to help but only while they are eating them (I break them into bits and let them eat them one bit at a time that way it is not messy) so isn't really more than a momentary solution. I feel so sad for her b/c her nose is a faucet, she is way hot, she drools all down her face all day, and she keeps her little fingers in her mouth like WHAT IS GOING ON IN THERE?! It seems to help me, too, to take them out a lot ... to the park, to the store, to the duck pond. Wherever they seem to like and be happy ... I take them there. I have taken them to the park almost every day the last few weeks! Also, distractions like Baby E videos and reading book after book after book and real active play like rolling around on the floor with them or building with blocks and letting them knock them down ... I have just had to let everything else slide and really just BE with them all day long ... if I even try to do dishes, I have someone holding on to my legs crying ...

anyway, good luck to you (and me!) and I hope those little teeth just pop on through quickly so we can have our precious babies back!

I think orajel helps numb the gums for the best relief. SOrry. molars hurt!
