I know everyone is different, but I was curious how much you can do on modified bed rest. I go back to my peri on Thursday and want to talk about my restrictions. Currently, I am supposed to rest all day, I can shower, go to the bathroom, get food as long as I am not up for more then 10 min. at a time and that is all....
    Thanks!!

That's the same as what I am doing. I only sit up to eat, the rest of the time I'm lying flat.

That is all that you are really supposed to do, along with getting up now and then to eat, etc. Now, try this with a 16 month old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRr

I've been on it for almost two weeks now, my doc said do as little as possible to avoid hospital bed rest. I get up to eat meals and shower, however, my hips are killing me... anyone have any ideas on how to fix this. I use the body pillows and all but the laying on my left side is starting to drive me crazy !

My OB suggested stretching your back on one of those giant balls. i haven't tried it yet b/c i recently got a body pillow which helped alot.

i'm terrified of going on bedrest. i have a 4 and a 2.5 year old. how are you managing? i'm assuming you have a nanny but did you have this caregiver in place prior to getting put on bedrest or did you have to scramble to find someone when you got the diagnosis? i don't currently have help during the day aside from some cleaning help a few mornings a week so i'm terrified i'll find myself suddenly in bed and having to thrust a stranger on my children.

I guess it all really depends on the person and the pg. My OB is putting me on modified bed rest in the next week or two, (as discussed when I was there a couple weeks ago) but he is still letting me work. He said as long as I am not having trouble of any kind, everything still looks good, then I can go for it. He does want me to lessen activity and to rest 1 complete hour in the morning with feet up and the works, and then again in the afternoon. I am feeling very fortunate at this point. I was afraid he was going to make me quit my job and we could really use the money a while longer. I am making my family help me out a lot more around the house. I think they are finally getting the idea that mom has to take it easy to avoid being stuck up in St. Johns Mercy in St. Louis. That is over an hour away and they like having mom around. Even DH is beginning to get the idea. I think that falling asleep at 8 or 8:30 at night and sleeping all night long is starting to prove that I am more tired than he thought I was. It's hard to imagine that mom is not really Superwoman! Good luck and I hope that you aren't stuck down too long!
