MoDi Twins Anyone else?

Discussion in 'Pregnancy Help' started by christinabina0314, Nov 16, 2011.

Just wondering who else on here is expecting MoDi twins. My membrane was found yesterday (I updated my welcome post) :D Due June 23rd but Dr. said he will deliver them around 36 weeks if all goes well.

My girls are mono/di. They came spontaneously at 34w1d & spent 2 weeks in the NICU - thankfully, they had no major health concerns, just feeding & growing. Now they're rambunctious 3 year olds & baby #3 will be arriving any day now. I hope.

I'm so happy they found a membrane--such a relief! There are lots of women on here with mo/di twins so I'm sure you will get more responses (mine are di-di).

My twins are mono-di. I had a c/s scheduled for 36 weeks but I went into labour at 35 weeks, they did not need special care. I read once that 35 weeks was average gestation for mono-di. Of course many go longer, but some much shorter.

My boys were mono-di. I carried until pre-e forced them out at 37 weeks :) Likely would have gone longer. I have a cervix of steel. hope the rest of your pregnancy is uneventful.

My girls are mono-di. They were transverse (sideways) so I had a C-section at 36 weeks. The doctor would have kept them in longer but they had a big size difference and I was starting to develop Pre-E.

My boys were mono-di and I delivered at 35w and 5d. They were in the NICU overnight to keep an eye on their feeding, but had no issues. Other than my BP going up a few day before birth, everything was very healthy.. i was just huge and slow for the last few weeks!

  7. I am so glad to see such great outcomes with everyones Mono/Di twins! I had pre-term labor with my girls each starting around 34 weeks so I am hoping to keep them in until at least then or longer if I can! The hospital I'm delivering at is Anne Arundel Medical Center and they have a good NICU if they would need care. I think I'm feeling nervous over having 2 itty bitty babies, my girls were singletons and seemed tiny to me, and it's been 5 years since I've had one lol

My girls were mono-di, was scheduled for induction at 37+4, ended up emergency c-section as Twin A had a flat trace (see my signature for outcome)... a couple of times I had to go for additional u/s due to extra fluid around Twin B but luckily they came out fine with no TTTS...

I had mo/di twins, although I was told di/di. Pathology comfirmed my suspicions as did a genetics test, LOL. They were 33 weekers.

  10. Glad they came out ok, they had a rough first couple weeks I'm sure you were stressed. I am worried about the TTTS, the figure my MFM specialist gave me was about 15% of Mono-Di pregnancies result in TTTS. Praying for the best though.

That's so neat, I didn't know you could do that to find out! Actually I didn't know jack about all this stuff until now lol.

modi..with ttts diagnosed at 20 weeks. Delivered at 34 weeks and 5 days. Try no to worry about ttts, but i would load up on protein now as it can't hurt and it helped my condition. I wish I had know that before I was diagnosed :)

I'm 25 weeks pregnant with mono/di boys. I struggled to gain weight and they worried about ttts but I'm hoping we have gotten past that. I have been eating as much as I can and I don't go a day without forcing down a BOOST with the plus calories! Good luck and it's hard not to worry. I was so worried that we didn't set up any baby stuff until this past week! So far everything has gone great with mine and I have 2 ultrasounds/month and 2 doc. apt's. You will probably get great care too and that will allow you to relax. You'll do great!

My first set of twins were mono/di who developed sudden onset of TTTS. Try and not stess too much and listen to the dr....you'll be fine! The ladies here are a great support!!! Good LUCK!

  14. Thanks for the advice, I'm glad your little ones are ok now! TTTS seems so scary to go through.

I was actually going to buy some boost at the store the other day, I think I really could use the extra calories and protein. Has anyone used Ensure Plus? Not sure if there's any difference. I will also be having 2 sono's a month and bi-weekly Dr. appointments, maybe more often than that because I'll be seeing my regular OB as well. I'm not looking forward to all the gas consumption, but I know it'll be worth it in the end.

Thank you! How are they now? Did they develop normally after birth?

@ Christina314 I delivered spontaneous mono/di twins at 28w 4d due to losing Adam in utero. Lucas is a thriving 2.5 year old with no signs of ever being so premature. It was sudden onset of TTTS which from what I am told is rare. I am now pregnant with my second set of spontaneous twins that are di/di. You are doing the right thing by researching, getting good medical care, and reaching out to these ladies. Just don't drive yourself nuts googling too much. Best of luck to you!

Just saying "Hi" since you said a nice hello to me in my post. I am 17wks now and everyone keeps telling me I don't look pregnant, it scares me as I've read alot about increasing my protein intake, but haven't been told that by my consultant. I lost 30lbs prior to becoming pg to have a healthier 9mths, so maybe that's why I don't seem so big to people? Plus I was super sick from 6-13wks I lost a ton of weight! I don't think I have felt much movement yet (a few flutters) and can't remember when I did with the boys, although like you my last Pg was 5yrs ago!! I work as a nurse on nightduty and I am struggling already with what I think is 'round ligament pain' if i move suddenly it's a sharp pain, or on my feet too long it's like a cramp over my belly button. Hoping to find out the sex soon, might make it seem more 'real' lol Think I'm still in a daze! Will you find out? Hope to keep in touch. x
