We are having the mmr vaccine today and I was wondering if any of you that have done it, had any side effects, nervousness, sleepiness etc?
my girls did not have any side effects other than a little soreness at the injection site. but they've never had any negative reactions from any of their vaccines so far... wait a minute, once when they were either 2 or 4 months old, one of them got a fever that night, but my pedi said that as long as we know why she's having the fever, we're okay. and it never got over 101 and was treated with tylenol and motrin. i can't say which vaccine that was from as i believe they received 4 that day.
We also have been very fortunate, our two have not had reactions from any of the vaccines, other then slight fevers (around 99) and the fever is usually gone within 24 hours.
One DD got a rash about a week or two after the shot, which is a known side effect, so I was ready for it. It didn't affect her in any way, and when I saw it, I called the office and described it and they confirmed that is what it was. It went away quickly.
Ours also fortunately had no side effects and haven't had with any of their other immunizations either. They were going to give one of the pnuemos with the MMR but we told them not to. If there were going to be problems we wanted to be sure we knew it was the MMR and not possibly the other injection.
My older DS also got this rash. We actually took him in because it looked so bad and the Pedi said, "You impressed me with this rash", but that was all it was and it went away in 1 - 2 days.
Amelia had her MMR 2 weeks ago (along with 3 other vaccinations!). She developed a fever and very slight rash about 8 days later. The fever lasted 3 days. The rash was so mild that I almost didn't notice it. She was otherwise fine.
Rhys developed a horrible looking rash about 10days after getting the MMR. I watched it spread from his tummy up his neck and face within 30mins. We went into see his pedi who ended up sending us to the Children Hospital to see a specialist who then determined it was a measle-like reaction from the shot ( he didn't have any fevers) then a few days later got a skin infection at the injection site. What we went through is very rare but it does happen.
My youngest just got his last Tuesday and the injection site was red and sore for a couple days but nothing else besides that :good:
My twins got their 12 month vaccinations (including the MMR) 8 days ago. Nothing yet. They have never had any reactions, whatsoever, including fever. I'm still prepared for the rash if it shows, since it can take up to two weeks to appear. Good luck!
