Mirror Image Twin Girls....

I just realized that my girls are mirror image twins. They are Mono Mono ID girls and one of my girls is left-handed and the other one is right-handed..their teeth are coming in opposite too....anyone else???? What are your experiences?

 

My little ones are definitely not mirror image, but I did meet a guy in the Chiropractor office while I was pregnant with my twins who is a mirror image twin. He actually said that he and his brother could feel each other's pain (even though he was in Anchorage while his brother was in Montana). CRAZY (and totally cool that they had that connection)! I wonder what connections your girls will experience!

What was even more weird when I met this guy was that he was talking to two guys who were identical twins (not mirror). So here are these three guys who were twins and then me who was pregnant with twins.

 

I've heard some mirror image twins even have their organs mirror imaged????
And I wonder in mo/mo's are more predisposed? Don't know, we need more stats!

 

I don't know if my girls are mirror image or not. They are too young for me to tell which hand will be dominant - they use both hands. Sometimes I comb their hair in opposite directions - but it's too short to be able to tell which direction it grows in. They did mirror a tooth recently on the bottom, but that's no longer visible since both grew in both of the teeth that were mirroring.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see as they get older.

 

We are mirror imaged. We are opposite handed and our hair naturally parts on opposite sides.

About 25-30% of all idetnical twins are mirrored. Its is generally thought to be a feature of mo/mo but I know many di/di who are as well. (leading to people thinking they are fraternal with the differences) (we were di/di)

There is no "mirror image police", it can be anything from a single feature reversed (teeth comming in, hair parts, handedness) to everything reversed. Unless everything is reversed then there really isn't much to be concerned about and a fun fact. I have run into people who think that mirror image should be a separate type of twins or that mirrors are "better" but thats just incredibly silly.

 

thanks connie - good info - I think it is fun to have my girls no matter what type of twin they are....I am grateful they are here! My other kids are having a blast with them too....I am so blessed.

 

My guys are mono-di and so far I'm noticing a few things (they are 9 months now) - their hair "swirls" are in opposite directions, their two front teeth came in opposite, they appear to be left- and right-handed. And for those who don't mind a bit too much information - their boy bits have opposite leaning - one always sitting to the left, one always to the right!

 

Our girls have some mirrored features and then a lot that aren't. Sierra looked like she was going to be left-handed but then switched to right at around 18 months so that was one feature where they ended up the same. Some of their teeth came in opposite (but not all) and their hair whirls are on different sides but their hair parts the same.

 

My girls are NOT mirrored, but my mother-in-law and her twin are mirrored- it's very fun to see them together.
