my little girl is already kicking her legs out of the miracle blanket and sometimes wiggles her arms out. i keep reading that people use them up to 5 months but i can't see how she will stay in it much longer.

when did you move to the sleep sack and how difficult was the transition. did it effect their sleep. she woke up several times last night...(they usually only wake up one time to nurse). when i went in to get her she was out of the swaddle and screaming. her poor little hands and feet were cold.

any experiences with weaning off the miracle blanket or suggestions on how to keep her in it are appreciated. thanks!!

I am really glad you asked this. We are in the same boat. My Jack and Lily are both out of their miracle blankets constantly but seem unable to sleep without them. I have tried the sleep sack but they did not seem ready. Right now I have Jack going down with one arm out but if I put Lily down with any of her crazy limbs out she just plays in her crib through her entire nap. She gets her legs out on her own immediatly and seems to prefer sleeping that way. Anyway, I wish I had an answer for you but I am afraid I am going to be reinserting legs into miracle blankets until I am 80 years old. Jack's diaper leeked into his miracle blanket in the middle of the night the other night and my husband and I thought the world had ended. Believe it or not Jack did not really go back to sleep until the blanket was washed and dried and back on him.

Oh yea, my twins are almost the same age as your babies.

We stopped swaddling when they could break free from swaddling that it was pretty much pointless. I think it was around 4.5 months. We used a blanket that we made so it was bigger than the usual blankets. We don't use sleep sacks and the transition went well. What also helped was sleeping the on their side with a sleep positioner.

I am still swaddling my boys for naps. They are 6.5 months old! I would like to stop but they just won't stay asleep. At night they're fine in sleep sacs.

We stopped swaddling when they were breaking loose - maybe about 3.5 mo for DD, 4 mo for DS. They took to the sleep sacks perfectly then. Didn't even seem to notice a difference (except that they were no longer waking up cold due to kicking the blanket off!).

We swaddled maybe around 3-4 months? They were breaking their little arms out of the miracle blanket. We tried doing it gradually, but it didn't work, so we did it "cold turkey". Had one difficult night and that was it. It was so nice to not be swaddling/unswaddling all the time!!!

We couldn't keep Kevin swaddled after 3 months, and Patrick lasted 4.5 months. That was it.
