DD is just blowing my mind lately. For the last week or more, she's been learning to say a new word literally every day. She finally started doing one sign ("more") the other day, and just yesterday started both signing AND saying "drink." As of now, we have words for cat, book, doll, ball, door/drawer, apple, watch, drink...

I can tell that her understanding of language is just skyrocketing too. I tell her "I see Bezuidenhout" (one of the cats), and she turns to look where I'm looking; she knows the difference between "Where's my ear?" and "Where's your ear?"; I ask her "Can I have a kiss?" and she crawls over and gives me one.

So amazing! I look at her and still see my helpless little preemie who couldn't stay awake to eat, and she's talking (and listening)!

    [/brag ;) ]

Enjoy the listening while it lasts. :rotflmbo:

    Sorry, couldn't resist.

It's so exciting when the communication gets rolling like that! It really cuts down on the frustration when they can tell you what they want.

That is great! Their first, little language explosion is such a fun stage. Color me impressed with her current vocab, but let us know when she says Bezuidenhout, because then I'll be REALLY impressed. ;)

You can totally brag. My one dd, Arwen started her language explosion right around the same time and it's so awesome and exciting. She was literally learning a minimum of 1 word a day sometimes more. It's so great. Before you know it, she will be asking for what she wants with words and communicating so many things to you. It's sooooooo much easier once their language really starts to develop and they can tell you what they need or want or what's wrong. Enjoy!!
