Just curious as to everyones answers.

We have not got the Pedis Ok to start milk....they turn 1 on Friday so we went ahead and started anyway.

They do not like the regular cows milk, but they will drink vanilla soy no problem. We buy organic, serve it cold. They are drinking about 16oz a day.

The three oldest drink 2% and have since about 18 months on. I used formula and breastfeeding up until then and water at the table. My two year old drinks Almond Breeze original. And the babies are still drinking formula.

Does the Almond Breeze have Calcium in it? I think I looked at some Almond milk and none of them had calcium...

My kids drink Almond Milk and Rice Milk. Both are preferred in vanilla flavor. They are allergic to both dairy AND soy.

HERE is the link to the Almond Breeze site. It looks like their milks do have 20% of RDV for Calcium. :)

Ours started drinking whole milk right after their 12 month check-up.
They HATED it at first, then I realized that they were used to room temp. bottles (w/ their formula), so now just to take the chill out of the milk I heat about 10-12 oz in a glass measuring cup in the microwave for about 15 seconds. It doesn't 'heat' it, just isn't so so cold.
Now that we do that they LOVE whole milk :clapping:
We are slowly going to start giving them cold milk though.

They were on soy formula from about 2 months until 12 months so I was leary of going to whole milk, but so far so good :good:

We started making the transition after our 9 month appointment with all three kids. They drank whole milk starting then. I switched the twins to 1% after they turned 3 and Liam after he turned 2.

ETA: We go through a gallon of milk a day.

Mine drink whole milk, chocolate milk, and pediasure. I give them 2 sippies a day that have 4 ounces of pediasure and 2 ounces of milk (this is their favorite) and then usually one that has 1/2 chocolate milk and 1/2 whole milk. The milk is cold but the pediasure is room temperature.

My girls drink any kind of cow's milk but in the house we usually have 1%. Their pedi said they could switch to skim milk (since one of my girls is very thin I didn't switch to skim).

The pedi told us no milk to drink till age 1 when I had asked about starting to wean, i was told to wean to formula. I thought this was crazy since I had asked at their 11 month check up. So I did replace a nursing session with whole milk at like 11 1/2 months.

I voted 2% because that is what my two drink now at age 3. At 12 months we started whole milk with them and they were on that until age 2.

Ours drink whole milk and they like it warm and cold. Right now they are drinking close to 24 oz per day per pediatrician's recommendation to put weight on. It might be lessened at our next visit though. We did start the transition to whole milk before we got the pediatrician's okay to start but they were a week shy of turning one when we started.

3 youngest drink whole milk. 2 oldest & DH drink skim. We do not buy organic milk. Oz/day depends on the day. They drink it cold.

I never ask the peds permission. I can make those decisions on my own.

My girls drink whole milk in sippy cups at meals and snacks. They don't drink a lot at this point...less than 8 oz/day. They are still on a high calorie formula. We added milk to their diet at 12 months after their Ped appointment. We serve milk cold.

My kids mostly drink my milk! :p If I'm out at a time when we'd typically nurse, they drink cold soy milk (regular or vanilla), which they love.

We switched them to whole milk at a year. My dr suggested doing the transition starting at 11 months. Now they all are on 2%. We only buy organic when we are at Publix because their organic doesn't cost any more than the regular stuff.

The twins went from soy formula to Vanilla Rice Milk at 9 months per peds recommendation(I can't remember why I didn't go to soy milk  ). And then at 18 months, they were able to switch to regular whole milk. I only buy one kind of milk for all the kids, so it's whole, and we go through at least a gallon a day.

We usually have 2% on hand, so that's they get. The babies don't really drink it much, DS won't touch it, and DD1 didn't really start drinking it until she was older than 2 (my kids all EBF for a long time)-because they were all well beyond when the ped recommends anyway. We don't buy organic because it's usually ultra-pasteurized, but we do buy local (so I voted other). It's always cold unless it's in hot chocolate, and I have no idea how much they drink.

We still do whole milk for all of the kids. The boys drink at least 24 ounces a day still and DD drinks about 10 or so. We buy organic and I did wait for the okay from the Ped for all of them.

At 11 1/2 months we switched from warm formula in bottles to cold milk in sippies, per ped. instructions, and never looked back. At their 2 year appointment, he told us we could give them anything but skim, but we stayed with whole milk until they were 3--they were both in the 50%ile in weight, and Jon was 75%ile in height. At around 3, we switched to 2%, which is what they drink today--unless I run out, then they will drink my Skim Plus. Marcus rarely drinks milk--he drinks OJ with calcium, but Jon will drink 2-3 glasses of milk a day.

We switched to whole milk right at 12 months. They love it.
We buy organic whole cows milk for all three kids, Sophie drinks it cold and the twins drink it warm (they still have two bottles a day). Sophie did drink 2% starting at 18months but we just give her whole because it is easier then buying 3 different kinds of milk (dh and I drink 1%).
All three kids have around 24 oz of milk a day.

My girls drink at least 24 ounces of whole milk per day. I buy organic/from a local dairy farmer here in town. DH and I drink skim, so my DS (6) gets either skim or whole... depending on what there is more of in the refrigerator. I started the girls on whole milk at 11.5 months old, and I did not get the peds ok.

ETA - We all drink it cold.

My kids have only ever drank skim milk. We go through about a gallon every day and a half. All they drink is milk or water. On rare occassions, they get juice - usually sugar free.

I BF my DD until she was 16 months old and the boys until they were 27 months old, so I never felt the need to give them whole milk. Aside from the fat content, skim milk gives them as many nutrients as whole and 2%.

At 1 we switched to whole cow's milk, organic. Becca had some lactose issues, so she was on Lactaid, sometimes whole, sometimes fat free depending on whether I could find organic. Oh wait, Jake had to be formula until 15 months to help with weight gain.

Kids started drinking cold formula at around 6-7 months old, so no issue with that.

At 2, we went to 2% (or 1%) i can never remember - however we recently have introduced cow's milk.

Jake drinks about 16 oz, Becca 20-24+ if she can get away with it!

When we started weaning we gave plain soymilk, then added whole milk when they started to tolerate yogurt and cheese. They usually get about 8 oz each of whole and soy a day, though they don't usually finish a cup. Ugh.
