So Dannielle's post got me thinking...

I've been reading all these posts about babies the same age as mine (3 months) and they all seem to be doing so much more than my full term 38-weekers. Mine DO have great neck control, but they are still not really laughing (only a small, stifled giggle when I kiss their necks,) they haven't even come close to rolling over, and they do not reach for or grasp objects. I know they still are in the normal window for doing these things, but I could use a little reassurance from those with full term babies that were on the slower end of the spectrum. Everyone on here seems to have such fast learners :) !

Mine were 39 weekers and ds didn't rollover until 6 months and dd until 8 months! They started grasping toys when they were about 4 months, and it was at this time that my dd started giggling. She didn't start her belly laughs until 9ish months. But ds was belly laughing younger, :pardon: don't remember exactly when. My two were on the slower side, it seems and now they are 19 months old and are doing GREAT! So "don't worry" {I know, easier said then done!!} :hug99:

I have 38 weekers at all and while DD seems to be hitting milestones ahead of schedule, DS is not as quick. He didn't smile until 12 weeks, just started giggling this last week (and we had to work really hard) and although he can roll belly to back, he doesn't very often and has no idea how to roll back to belly. He will grasp a toy if we put it in his hand, but doesn't reach for toys very much. I think it's b/c he's a more content baby, he is fine to lay on the floor and look at his hands for an hour while DD is an explorer, easily bored and always wants to be where the action is.

Don't worry, they will get there!!

My girls are just now 4 months old - they haven't started rolling over yet however they are trying, and they just recently started grasping objects. So I don't think your little ones are behind at all. Remember also that all babies are unique and develop at different rates, but if you are worried you can also ask your ped

I feel bad for bragging about Kamryn rolling over... I know she has no idea how she did it! She did it 4 times this morning but later today and tonight she just cried. My babies don't laugh either, or grab things. I thought they wouldn't roll over for a while because they don't really have a lot of upper body control yet but it came out of the blue. They will just surprise you one day!

My babies were full term 38 babies - induced at 38 weeks. They were not doing any of those things at 3 months. My babies didn't roll until 5 months and they just started rolling from belly to back at 6months. My DS can do back to belly but not vice versa. I wouldn't worry - every baby is sooo different and they all do it eventually.

for ex. my oldest DD was saying the alphabet by a year and a half and my second DD was only saying a couple of words at 2.5. Every child is different.

Thanks everyone! I feel a lot better hearing that there ARE other babies out there like mine. I guess I just needed a little reassurance!

I hope I didn't make you feel bad! You SHOULD brag and you should be proud :D !! Even if she has no clue how she did it, she does have the capability!

It is so hard not to compare and be nervous about milestones. I too had my fair share (and still do!) about why my girls weren't doing what such-and-such is doing. The milestone charts are a loose guideline for the babies and all are different. The thing I tried to keep in the front of my mind is what the pedi thought of their progress. If he/she was fine with the progress they were making, I should be too. :hug99:

I sometimes feel like my babies are behind too! Carter JUST started laughing and Alex doesn't seem interested at all! They took forever to smile and they still aren't really grasping for objects although if I put it in their hands they hold on to it and Carter even switched a rattle from one hand to another. I think every baby hits their milestones in their own way and you just have to be patient. It's so tough though!
