I know this has probably been posted a million times, but I can't find anything. I'm pretty laid back when it comes to these things, but I recently started looking at you guys blogs who have twins my twins' age and now I am really worried (I know, don't compare!). But it's so hard. My twins were 6 weeks early, so maybe I should remember that also.

But, DD is not talking at all. She makes a few sounds, but no syllables. DS says, DADADADA all the time, MAMA once in a while and what I call the "motor boat"/blowing bubbles, but that's it. They sit and roll, but are not pulling up and nowhere near crawling. My pedi was like, "they REALLY should be pulling up at this age." What??!! I mean, they JUST learned how to sit without falling over. I see some blogs of 9 months old who are crawling...up stairs and almost walking and saying real words!

Also, mine do not hold their bottles (have only done it one time each). At what point do you worry about this stuff?

I would mention ALL your concerns at their 9 month check up...

I have a few of your concerns as well....

-mine don't say consants let alone stuff like mama and dada
    - they ARE pulling up and are close to crawling but not there yet
    - mine don't hold their bottles and really don't show any interest. I'm TRYING to intro the sippy cup but so far they still haven't gotten it..

anyway Im sure ALL your concerns are valid and im sure your pedi can tell you whats normal and whats not (or at least thats what Im hoping mine will do with us tomorrow)

    good luck!

I worry about this stuff too! I do honestly think it's in normal range for 9 month olds (especially when 7.5 adjusted) to be right where yours are. Plus, things change quickly from about 9 months on. This week will look different than next week and so on. I wish peds wouldn't say stuff like that. One of mine wasn't pulling up a few weeks ago and the ped kept reassuring me that it was well within normal for her.

It's so hard not to worry, but go with what your pedi says.

If it makes you feel any better, my girls started holding their bottles right around that age. But, they were not pulling up until close to ten months and didn't start crawling until 10.5, close to 11 months.

Remember to ADJUST here. Six weeks, in the life of a baby, is a LOOOONNNGG time and makes a HUGE difference in milestone timing. Even a single day makes a huge difference when they are this little.

Yours are 7 1/2 mos NOT nine months and a Pediatrician shouldn't say those things.

It all sounds perfectly normal to me. Babies are not machines and they do things in their own time.

Mine are nowhere near pulling up and only one can crawl. I'm not worried one bit. My Ped isn't either.

How many adults do you know who can't hold their cup, roll over, crawl, pull up or walk?

Try not to worry yourself. It's going to be totally fine. They are just babies :)

My one DS just started pulling up within the past week or so, he was no where NEAR it at the 9 mos range. Mine didn't crawl til after 10 mos, either. I have one that babbles constantly with more sounds than I think even I could come up with, but my other is content just rambling "DADADADA" over & over again ;). He CAN say other things, just prefers that one.

My Ped got me worked up at our 9 mo appt because my boys weren't 'doing tricks' (as I called it...ie clapping, waving, etc), weren't pulling up, & weren't saying Mama/Dada and meaning it. I didn't stress too bad, they do all that now, except still don't know what mama/dada means. Or so I don't think they do :).

Some Peds just like to get parents fired up. Kids develop in their own time, especially preemies.

If you truly feel concerned, you can always bring it up to your Ped & potentially get a referral to a program like EI. But, if I were you, I'd give them time....they'll be doing it all before you know it & then you'll wish they were back to where you are now!

I also think it's a good idea to mention it at their next dr. appt. That's what I do and then I get good feedback and tips too :hug99: .
