I bought a couple of these yesterday and I'm still not sure what to put in them. Is it supposed to be frozen fruit or fresh? Can I use canned if I drain off the syrup and rinse them?

And where do you put the babies while they've got these things because they seem like they'll be pretty messy (DH suggested the back yard- :p )!

I use them for fresh apples and fresh pears, frozen peaches and frozen cherries. I tried not to use any canned fruit (sugar) or canned veggies (salt). The only one that was really messy was the cherries. The others it isn't too bad and in fact, when we go out to lunch/dinner, we usually bring along the mesh feeders and apples and it keeps the girls' occupied with hardly any mess.

I know others have said not to use bananas in them as they are hard to clean.

Hope your babies like them, my girls love them!

I used them for everything: fruit, vegetables, tortillas, bread, potatoes, crackers, etc. I loved those things for all three kids and we have three at the house and more at relative's houses. They come in really handy at restaurants and are one of the three things people always stop to ask about when they see us using them (the other two being Podee bottles and our clip-on highchair).

I just put them in their highchair with a bib to eat.

My little guys LOVE frozen grapes in theirs! So far, it's not too messy, but they also aren't very coordinated yet, so hard to say!

I never used frozen or canned fruit, only whole, organic fruit. I put everything in them, bananas, apples, mangos, watermelon, pear, etc. I feed them in their high chair.

Thanks for asking this question! The first time I saw these, I thought to myself, "Yuck!" LOL...The thought of the purpose of these grosses me out for some reason, yet I really didn't understand what to put in them. The posters gave great ideas! (Though I don't know about breads...lol) I need to go get me some! ;)

I use it for all fresh and frozen fruits and veggies. DONT do the banana in the feeders. It is really hard to clean, and it is messy. Everything else is sort of ok. Put them where it is easy to clean, them and the floor.
